Venkatesh Iyer is a cricketer from India who was born on December 25th, 1994. He currently plays for the province of Madhya Pradesh in the Indian domestic cricket league and for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL).In March of 2015, Iyer made his debut in the Twenty20 format against the Railways cricket team at Holkar Stadium. In December of the same year, he made his debut in the List A format against the Saurashtra cricket team at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
All the while he was working toward earning a Bachelor of Commerce degree. Once he had completed the CA Intermediate exams, he decided to withdraw from the program and enroll in a Master of Business Administration program in finance. This decision was made so that he could continue his cricket career. On December 6, 2018, he first appeared for Madhya Pradesh in a first-class match during the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy.
Iyer ended the 2021-22 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as the highest scorer for Madhya Pradesh. He scored 155 runs at an average of 51.66, which was the most on the team. He maintained his good form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2021-22, when he batted in the lower middle order and scored 379 runs at an average of 63.16 and a strike rate of above 133. This consisted of two centuries, with one of them having a score of 151.
Through this accomplishment, he became the first batter in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy to achieve a score of 150 or more while batting at number six or below. In a total of six matches, he also took nine wickets. The Kolkata Knight Riders made the purchase of Iyer at the Indian Premier League auction that took place in February 2021, just before the beginning of the 2021 season of the football league.

Through a match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on September 20, 2021, he made his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the United Arab Emirates, where the tournament had resumed. At the Mumbai Indians game on September 23, 2021, he hit his first fifty in the Indian Premier League. Throughout the remainder of the competition, Iyer established himself as a crucial player for KKR, contributing to the team’s advancement to the championship game by scoring 370 runs at an average of 41 and a strike rate of 129.
In the second qualifier, he scored 55 runs, which earned him the title of player of the match. In the final, he followed this up with another half-century, which earned him the title of match-winner. However, even though he and his opening partner Shubman Gill put up a stand of 91 runs, it was ultimately in naught since KKR ended up losing the match. Iyer achieved his first century in the Indian Premier League on April 16, 2023, when he hit 104 runs off of 51 balls against Mumbai Indians.
After Brendon McCullum, who scored a century for KKR in the inaugural match of the Indian Premier League in 2008, he became just the second batter to hit a century for KKR. However, his century was not enough to save KKR from losing to Mumbai Indians. Iyer has scored 234 runs in six innings with an average of 39 and a strike rate of 168.34, making him the fourth top scorer in terms of runs in the Indian Premier League 2023 as of the 20th of April 2023. India’s 2021 ICC Twenty20 World Cup squad requested that he remain in the United Arab Emirates to serve as a net bowler for the team. He was selected to be a member of India’s Twenty20 International (T20I) team for the series that they were going to play against New Zealand in November of 2021.[19] [19] He played his first Twenty20 International match for India on November 17, 2021, against New Zealand. This was his first time bowling for an international team, and he did so in the last match of this series when he returned statistics of 3-0-12-1.

He was selected to be a member of India’s One-Day International (ODI) team for the series that they were going to play against South Africa in December of 2021. The first one-day international match he played for India was against South Africa on January 19, 2022. During the Twenty20 International series that India played against the West Indies in January 2022, he was selected to be a member of the Indian team. He participated in all three matches of the series, playing a finishing position in the lower middle order, and scored his runs at a strike rate of 179.24. He also took two wickets during the series.
