Born on the 14th of August in the year 2000, Tristan Stubbs is a cricket player from South Africa. The month of June 2022 was his debut with the South African cricket team in the 50-over format, while January 2024 marked his debut with the Test squad. Stubbs made his debut in the first-class competition on January 16, 2020, while playing for Eastern Province in the CSA 3-Day Provincial Cup for the 2019–20 season. In the 2019–20 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge, which took place on February 16, 2020, he made his debut on the List A. He was representing Eastern Province.
On the 21st of February 2021, he made his debut in the Twenty20 competition, playing for Warriors in the 2020–21 CSA T20 Challenge. The Eastern Province’s squad was selected for the 2021–22 cricket season in South Africa, and he was given a spot on the team in April of that year. Also, Stubbs has a Dutch passport. He signed a contract with Excelsior ’20 in 2021 so that he may participate in club cricket in the Dutch Topklasse.
After Tymal Mills was unable to participate in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) due to an injury, the Mumbai Indians decided to replace him with Stubbs in their roster for the 2022 season. The Jaffna Kings decided to sign him in July 2022 so that he may participate in the third season of the Lanka Premier League. When the Delhi Capitals held their auction for the 2024 Indian Premier League, they were successful in signing Stubbs in December of 2023. Stubbs was selected to be a member of South Africa’s One Day International (ODI) team for the series that they were going to play against the West Indies in March of 2023. In the second one-day international of the series, which took place on March 18, 2023, he made his first appearance in a one-day international.
In January 2024, Stubbs made his debut in a test match against India. When he was dismissed twice on the opening day of his maiden test match, he made history by being the first player in 127 years to do so. This will be a significant boost for the Test squad, as Tristan Stubbs became the eleventh hitter to record a first-class triple-century in South Africa. He also became the eighth batter to do so since readmission. Because he has scored two hundred in five matches, Stubbs is currently the player who has scored the most runs in Division 1 1 of the domestic four-day championship.
In addition to making his debut in the New Year’s Test against India, which took place a month ago, Stubbs was a member of South Africa’s A squad that visited Sri Lanka in July of last year. During that trip, Stubbs scored a century in Colombo, which indicated that he was prepared to advance to the senior team. The chance presented itself to him at Newlands, where he batted at No. 4 in Temba Bavuma’s absence due to an injury. The Warriors announced their victory against Kwa-Zulu Natal Inland with a score of 517 for 3, after he had batted for eight hours and 19 minutes, facing 372 balls, and ultimately scoring 302 runs. Because the Warriors are presently in fifth position and KZN Inland is in last place, neither team has a chance of making it to the final that will take place the following week. This match also marked Mondli Khumalo’s comeback to action. Khumalo had not played since February 2022, and he has been recuperating from injuries he got as a result of an incident that occurred in the United Kingdom.
The following year, Khumalo was able to return to the North Petherton Cricket Club in Somerset for the summer season in the northern hemisphere after undergoing four rounds of surgery and receiving clearance to play.
