In February 2018, he made his debut for the New Zealand cricket team on the international stage. He was a member of the New Zealand side that competed in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2014. With forty deliveries, he scored one hundred runs. As a result of his 703 runs scored throughout nine matches during the 2017–18 Plunket Shield season for Northern Districts, he was the player with the highest run total. Northern Districts offered him a contract for the 2018–19 season in June of 2018, and he accepted it. The Dambulla Giants decided to contract him in July 2022 so that he may participate in the third season of the Lanka Premier League. It was announced in February 2018 that Seifert would be joining the Twenty20 International (T20I) team for the 2017–18 Trans-Tasman Tri-Series. On February 13, 2018, he made his debut for New Zealand in a match against England.
Following his selection in the New Zealand One-Day International (ODI) squad for their series against Sri Lanka in December 2018, he went on to make his debut in the ODI format during the series in January 2019. The selection of Seifert to represent New Zealand in the 2021 ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup took place in August of 2021. At the fifth and final Twenty20 International match between New Zealand and Pakistan, which took place on Saturday, April 27, at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Tim Seifert, a batter from New Zealand, displayed his aerobatics batting effort. On Saturday, April 27, in Lahore, Pakistan, during the fifth Twenty20 International match between Pakistan and New Zealand, Seifert struck a fantastic aerobatic shot to smash Muhammad Amir.
As a result of Pakistan’s victory against New Zealand in the last Twenty20 International, the trophy was split between the two sides even though the series was very exciting. With the first match being a washout, the series concluded with a score of 2-2. With a burst of athleticism, Seifert sprinted towards the ball to connect with his bat, but instead, he found that his bat was in the process of slicing through empty air. When Amir delivered a wide delivery during the sixth over, it enticed Seifert to go forward more aggressively. This incident occurred during the event.
Earlier in his stint, Seifert had already taken on Amir, and he punished the Pakistani bowler by hitting a six and two fours. Because the New Zealand hitter was looking to make the most of the powerplay, he immediately adopted an aggressive stance from the very beginning. When Amir came to bowl his second over, Seifert wanted to make the most of the powerplay opportunities that were available to him. Amir had a difficult time getting his line and lengths correct, and as a result, he bowled a couple of wides and lost three boundaries to his opponents.
