The Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur was the location where Bharat made his first appearance in a test match, which took place on February 9, 2023. The selection of him to India’s team for the test series against England took place in January of 2024. He scored 41 runs in the first inning of the first test, and then he scored 28 runs in the second inning of the previous test. Throughout the encounter, he was also responsible for four dismissals.
During the second test match between India and England, the Andhra Pradesh board extended their congratulations to India wicketkeeper KS Bharat and decorated the stadium with posters. Bharat’s home field in Visakhapatnam was the location of the warm reception he got. The performance that Bharat had with the bat, on the other hand, did not live up to the expectations that were set for him, as he was only able to score 6 and 17 in the second test. Because of this lackluster performance, he became the object of criticism from his followers on social media.
Would it be possible for KS Bharat’s tenure with the Indian Test squad is come to an end? A significant number of supporters share this attitude, particularly in light of his lackluster performance in Visakhapatnam during the second test match against England. As a result of Rishabh Pant’s injury, Bharat got his debut in the Test match last year. However, in his seven matches, he has failed to make a big impression with the bat.
Because Pant is out with an injury and Bharat has not been able to capitalize on his opportunities, the management may take into consideration the possibility of providing opportunities to other bright prospects such as Dhruv Jurel or even Ishan Kishan, even though Kishan has not played any Ranji games this season. If Bharat does not improve his performance shortly, his Test career may be in peril. Bharat’s statistics in red-ball international cricket are below average. The India wicketkeeper has scored 221 runs throughout 12 innings, with an average of 20.09 and a strike rate of 52.99. However, he has not hit a single half-century in any of his matches.
