Shahbaz Ahmed is a cricketer who represents India on the international stage and was born on December 11th, 1994. He is now a member of the Indian cricket squad. He made his first appearance on a global stage on October 9th, 2022. In the Indian Premier League, he is a member of Sunrisers Hyderabad, while in the domestic cricket league, he is a member of Bengal. Besides being a left-handed batter, he is also an all-rounder to bowl.
In August 2022, Shahbaz was selected to fill the void left by Washington Sundar, who had sustained an injury, in India’s One-Day International squad for their tour to Zimbabwe. His inclusion in India’s One-Day International team for their series against South Africa was announced in October of 2022. On October 9, 2022, he played his first one-day international match against South Africa. On October 6, 2023, he played Bengal in his first Twenty20 International match.
With a score of 80% in Class 10 and 88% in Class 12, Shahbaz was an exceptionally talented student. Shahbaz decided to abandon his engineering education to pursue a cricket career, much to the dismay of his parents because of this decision. After thereafter, Shahbaz finished his Bachelor of Technology degree in India when the country was under the COVID lockdown.
Once he had accepted the choice of following cricket as a profession, with his parent’s consent Shahbaz traveled to Kolkata where he slept in a tiny room with three other players while earning a living by cleaning kitchenware. Pramod Chandila, a first-class cricketer, was the one who introduced Shahbaz to his coach Partha Pratim Chowdhury while he was playing cricket in the second division in Kolkata. This is where Shahbaz began his cricket career.

As a result of Partha’s assistance, he was able to enroll at the Tapan Memorial Club, which is a cricket academy located in Kolkata, and he began living with Partha’s family. Manoj Tiwary, who was the captain of Bengal at the time, took Shahbaz under his wing and found a mentor in Arun Lal, who was the coach of Bengal. Shahbaz’s performances drew the attention of Manoj Tiwary.
After becoming Bengal’s crisis man and playing a significant role in the team’s advancement to the finals of the 2019-20 Ranji Trophy, he earned the moniker Jaanbaaz because of his contributions. By playing against the Jammu and Kashmir squad in Chennai on September 20, 2018, Shahbaz made his debut for Bengal in the List A competition of the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy. In his first match, he came back with figures of 1/22 and won the match.
It was his first time playing in a first-class match, and he scored 27 runs and took one wicket in the match against Hyderabad. On the 24th of February 2019, he made his Twenty20 debut for Bengal in the 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Haryana at Cuttack. He picked up one wicket once again, in addition to scoring a crucial 24-ball 17 in the lower order, which ultimately contributed to his team’s victory by three wickets at the end of the match.
To this point, Shahbaz has participated in thirteen first-class matches, taking 37 first-class wickets at an economy rate of 2.60, hitting 559 runs, including four half-centuries, and scoring 559 runs overall. Throughout sixteen innings played in List-A cricket, he has amassed 435 runs at an average of 39.54. With his best statistics of 3/35, he has a total of 18 wickets in the List-A format to his credit. It was during the 33rd match of the 2020 Indian Premier League that he made his first appearance in the Indian Premier League, which was against Rajasthan Royals.
