Again, when his side was in a difficult situation against Bangladesh, he scored a match-winning innings of 68 off 89, which led to the team’s victory against Bangladesh by 87 runs in the 2023 Cricket World Cup, which took place at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. It was announced in May of 2024 that he would be leading the Netherlands team in the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup event that would take place in 2024. The captain of the Netherlands, Scott Edwards, stated that his team “weren’t up to the mark” on the day of the match against Bangladesh.
The Dutch suffered a costly loss at the hands of the Tigers, which substantially hindered their prospects of qualifying for the Super 8s. Before their match against Bangladesh on Thursday, June 13, the Netherlands chose their fate; but, after suffering a loss by 25 runs, they are no longer in control of their destiny. As a result of a disastrous death-over collapse (111/3 to 134/8), Edwards’ team was unable to meet the objective. This occurred after they had conceded 159 overs with the ball bowling first. To Bangladesh, credit is due. The way they played was quite impressive to me. We just did not meet the expectations in any of the three categories.
It was a matter of taking wickets. After Bangladesh’s defeat, Edwards expressed his regret that the team did not perform as well as they might have. In the first inning, the Dutch captain made a veiled reference to the fact that his team had lost the ball since they had allowed one more run than they had scored. As of Monday, the Royal Dutch Cricket Association confirmed that the experienced Scott Edwards would be leading the Netherlands in the Twenty20 World Cup, which will take place the following month.
