Juan “Rusty” Theron is a South African-American cricket player who was born on July 24, 1985. He serves as a professional cricketer. He was a member of the South African national team, the Rajasthan Royals of the Indian Premier League, and the Warriors of South African domestic cricket at the same time. He also played for the South African national team. He bats right-handed and bowls with his right arm. He is a quick bowler. In response to a string of knee ailments, he stepped down from his position as a South African domestic cricket player on October 8, 2015.
The International Cricket Council’s three-year residence criterion was satisfied by him in 2019, which allowed him to become eligible to play for the United States cricket team in international matches. In September 2019, he participated in a One-Day International (ODI) match for the United States of America. Because of the reddish-brown hue of his hair, he is well-known by the nickname “Rusty.”
In October of 2005, Theron made his debut for Eastern Province. He participated in a List A match in Port Elizabeth against the Zimbabwe U-23 squad. He bowled them out for 145, which contributed to his side’s victory in the match. His match numbers were 2/26 over 6.3 overs. Soon after, in November of 2005, he made his debut at the higher level of competition, competing against KwaZulu Natal.
After a short period, he showed his promise and became an essential element of the Warriors squad. He went on to lead the team in consecutive bowling charts in both first-class and List-A tournaments with his impressive performance. Cricket South Africa’s 2008 Mutual Federal SA Cricket Awards presented Theron with the MTN Domestic Championship Cricketer of the Year award in recognition of his outstanding performance for Warriors in the year 2008.

Additionally, during the same year, he participated in English club cricket for the team Audley, which is headquartered in Staffordshire. He took over for fellow South African Alfonso Thomas at that time. Additionally, he was a member of the South Africa A team during the same year. Because of Theron’s outstanding domestic achievements across all tournaments, most notably during the Standard Bank Pro20 series, he was selected for South Africa’s preliminary 18-man squad for the 2010 ICC World Twenty20. This was a result of his good domestic performances.
A national contract and a signing with the Kings XI Punjab franchise, which competes in the Indian Premier League. After bowling the Super Over that led his side to win, he was given the Man of the Match award for his performance in his first game for Punjab, which was against the Chennai Super Kings. He recorded statistics of 2/17 in his four overs, and he bowled the Super Over that led to the victory. There were two Twenty20 Internationals that he participated in against Zimbabwe, and during the One-Day International series, he grabbed his maiden wicket in an ODI match, which was of the opener Hamilton Masakadza.
The one-day international series against Zimbabwe consisted of three matches, and he collected 11 wickets, including a five-wicket haul. Not only was he chosen for the two-match twenty-20 series against Pakistan, but he was not chosen for the one-day international series. During the two-match series, he was responsible for four wickets, and as a result, he was included in the team for the one-day international series against Pakistan. The Deccan Chargers choose Theron to play for them in the Indian Premier League for the 2011 season.
From a total of 84/7, South Africa was able to win the second Twenty20 International against Australia because of the contributions of Theron (31 off 16) and Wayne Parnell (29 off 11). During the 2011 Indian Premier League Auction, the Deccan Chargers were successful in acquiring Theron. Until the year 2012, he continued to play for the Deccan Chargers. In the Indian Premier League, Theron and several other players were released from their contracts with the franchise when the club was transferred to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Even though he participated in the Indian Premier League Auction in 2013, no teams were interested in purchasing him. Rajasthan Royals chose Theron to play with them in the eighth season of the Indian Premier League in 2015. Theron was selected to be a member of the United States cricket team’s training squad of thirty players in June of 2019. This was done in preparation for the Regional Finals of the 2018–19 ICC Twenty20 World Cup Americas Qualifier competition, which was held in Bermuda. He was one of twelve players who signed a central contract with USA Cricket for three months the following month.
His inclusion in the United States’ One-Day International (ODI) team for the 2019 United States Tri-Nation Series went into effect in September of this year. For the United States, he made his One-Day International (ODI) debut on September 13, 2019, against Papua New Guinea. Before that, he had played four One-Day Internationals (ODIs) for South Africa. This made him the thirteenth player to represent two different international nations in ODIs.In November 2019, he was placed on the United States team that would compete in the Regional Super50 event for the 2019–20 season.
According to the results of the players’ draft, he was chosen to take part in the Minor League Cricket competition that was held in the United States in June 2021. His inclusion in the United States team for the 2021 ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup Americas Qualifier event, which will take place in Antigua, was announced in October of 2021. On November 7, 2021, he made his debut in a Twenty20 International (T20I) match for the United States of America against Belize. This made him the thirteenth cricketer to represent two different international teams in a T20I match.
