In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kieron Pollard was one of the most important foreign players for Mumbai Indians for a decade. With his powerful strokes, outstanding fielding, and wicket-taking ability, the hard-hitting all-rounder established a reputation for himself in the cricketing world. Just like Pollard, Romario Shepherd is capable of delivering powerful blows. In addition, he bowls using his right arm. Shepherd has shown that he is capable of hitting maximums whenever he has to in the most recent encounter against Delhi Capitals.
In the history of the Indian Premier League, Pollard is presently the player who holds the record for the most sixes scored by a foreign player for Mumbai Indians. When he played 189 matches, he struck 222 sixes. If Shepherd and Pollard both have extended stints in the Indian Premier League, then Shepherd may end up beating Pollard’s record. While playing against Delhi Capitals in the most recent encounter, Romario Shepherd had an incredible strike rate of 390. There were just ten balls that he had to face throughout the innings.
With the Mumbai Indians, Pollard had the greatest strike rate for an international player among hitters who faced at least 18 balls in an inning. He is now hitting for the Mumbai Indians. The Punjab Kings were the opponent that Pollard faced in 2019, and he scored 83 runs off of only 31 balls while maintaining a strike rate of 267.74. Shepherd may be able to shatter the record in the next Indian Premier League 2024 games.
At this moment in time, Romario Shepherd is 29 years old. During the next ten years, he has the potential to surpass Kieron Pollard’s record for the most runs scored by an overseas player for Mumbai Indians in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Throughout 171 innings, Pollard amassed 3,412 runs with the Indian Premier League team located in Mumbai. In 2010, he made his first appearance, and he went on to retire following the 2022 season.
If Shepherd can score regularly and earn a promotion in the batting order, the Guyanese superstar has the potential to surpass Pollard’s record at some point in the future. The Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians started with a boom on Sunday, even though they had lost another toss. This was certainly a change from the previous day. There were several speed breakers following the wicket of Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav’s unsuccessful comeback in the Indian Premier League 2024. Hitman Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan gave the squad a good start, but they were unable to overcome them.
