The Netherlands selected him to be a member of their team for the 2019 ICC Twenty20 World Cup Qualifier event, which will take place in the United Arab Emirates. In November 2020, he said that he is presently working as a delivery boy for Uber Eats amid the COVID-19 epidemic to meet his financial obligations. He also stated that he intends to become eligible for England after obtaining citizenship in the United Kingdom.
Van Meekeren inked a contract with Durham as a player for the duration of the 2021 Twenty20 Blast in July of 2021. His first game was against Derbyshire, and he ended up losing by a score of 2–31. When the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots selected him for the 2021 season of the Caribbean Premier League in August of 2021, he made history by being the first Dutch player to ever play in the league. In September 2021, he was one of the individuals selected to represent the Netherlands in the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup. Towards the end of that month, he signed a contract with Gloucestershire that was for two years.
As a result of his four wickets taken during the 2023 Cricket World Cup match against Bangladesh, he was able to guide the Dutch to a historic win on October 28th, 2023. The junior van Meekeren recalls watching the action while sitting under the trees near the traditional cricket scoreboard. The scorer would pull a string to cause the numbers to tick over on the scoreboard, and the junior van Meekeren would watch the action from there. It was on Saturdays that he would participate in their practice sessions, and if he was successful in catching a ball, he would be rewarded with an ice cream cone by someone.
It was a setting that finally sparked his desire to become a professional cricket player and sent him on a career that has led him to two Twenty20 World Cups in the last two years as well as his first one-day international (ODI) World Cup, which also took place in India. On Sunday, the fast bowler was in the thick of things as he bowled to a star-studded Indian batting team in Bengaluru and removed their in-form opener Shubman Gill. He achieved this by bowling to the Indian batting order.

A genuine fighter and warrior, Paul van Meekeren, a strike bowler for the Netherlands, created a name for himself in the most recent two International Cricket Council competitions. The Dutch surprised the cricketing world with their energetic performances, and van Meekeren went on to become a household name. Somebody who comes from a modest family and has been through several challenges and difficulties, Van Meekeren presents himself with a grin on his face and takes pleasure in the game that he fell in love with when he was around 12 years old.
When Paul van Meekeran comes in, he pitches on short of a nice length on off and middle. Two fresh hitters, who had previously smashed tons earlier in the competition in the same match, are attempting to regain their feet and begin a rescue mission. Aiden Markram, who holds the record for the quickest century ever scored in the history of the World Cup, is now in a castled position at the moment. Van Meekeran was overjoyed, and his colleagues quickly joined him in his celebration as the Netherlands began to sense that something remarkable was on the horizon.
