He was born on January 4, 1997. It was in October of 2018 that he made his debut for the West Indies on the international stage. In the 2016–17 Regional Super50, which took place on January 25, 2017, he made his debut with the West Indies Under-19s in the List A competition.
Ahead of his first appearance in List A, he was selected to be a member of the West Indies side that competed in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2016. It was on August 4, 2017, that he made his debut in the Twenty20 format for St. Lucia Stars, who was playing in the Caribbean Premier League. During the 2017–18 Regional Four Day Competition, which took place on November 2, 2017, he made his debut for the Windward Islands in the first-class competition.
The Cricket West Indies B Team selected him to be a member of their team for the first-ever Global T20 Canada competition, which took place in June 2018. With eleven wickets taken in seven matches, he was the most wicket-taking player for the Cricket West Indies B Team throughout the tournament. In April of 2021, Multan Sultans decided to pay him a contract so that he may participate in the postponed matches of the 2021 Pakistan Super League. The Rajasthan Royals were the ones who purchased him during the auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League competition, which took place in February of that year. Since October 2018, he has been a member of the One Day International (ODI) team for the West Indies, which will be playing a series against India. On October 24, 2018, he made his first appearance for the West Indies. The match was against India. His inclusion in the Twenty20 International (T20I) squad of the West Indies for the series against England took place in March of 2019. On March 8, 2019, he made his debut for the West Indies in a Twenty20 International match against England.
The West Indies announced in September 2021 that McCoy would be a member of their team for the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup in 2021. In a match against India on August 1, 2022, McCoy had the highest bowling numbers of his career, which were 6–17. These are the greatest bowling stats ever by a player from the West Indies in the Twenty20 International format. In the Twenty20 International format, these are also the greatest bowling numbers for any team that is playing against India.
Afterward, on August 6, 2022, McCoy got the most costly bowling numbers for a West Indies player in the Twenty20 International format with figures of 2-66. This occurred two matches later. With the expectation that their club would win their first game of the tournament, the locals flocked to the turnstiles to see the Capitals play their first home game of the second season. Even though the Royals were attempting to complete a “double” against the Capitals, they were unsuccessful. The visitors were able to secure a tight win by a score of 10 runs.
Another victory for the Royals came on Friday evening at Boland Park, where they were playing. The last match of the Bangladesh Premier League, which Fortune Barishal won against Comilla Victorians, included both of the bowlers that were engaged in the contest. Currently ranked fourth on the points table is Islamabad United, a team that has won the Pakistan Super League twice. This evening, they will be competing against Peshawar Zalmi at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

As a result of the persistent rain in the Punjab metropolis, Islamabad’s previous match, which was scheduled to take place against Quetta Gladiators, was canceled. Because the match was set to start at seven o’clock in the evening, the covers were left on at the Pindi Stadium. Throughout the whole of the outfield, there were several potholes. In St. Kitts, the buildup to the second Twenty20 International was a strange affair.
As a result of the late arrival of the team uniforms and baggage from Trinidad, the match, which had been scheduled to begin at 10.30 am local time, was finally delayed and began at 1.30 pm local time. This was close to the time that it was due to conclude. Following the commencement of the action, however, Obed McCoy appeared and ambushed Rohit Sharma, who is known as the pull shot maestro.
A back-of-a-length ball was able to rear up and seam away outside off thanks to the left-arm fast who rushed in hard from over the wicket, struck the pitch harder, and got a back-of-a-length delivery. The hitter was maybe stuck between pulling it and jabbing at it, but McCoy had so much going for him that he squared up the batter and grabbed the outside edge near the shoulder of the bat. Rohit was possibly caught between the two options.
Because McCoy had previously worked in the CPL as a slower-ball specialist, he began his Twenty20 International career as a specialist in the death. During his debut in the Twenty20 International, he was the sixth bowler for the West Indies. He bowled over 13, 15, and 20 against England in Basseterre, the same venue, where he took six wickets for seventeen runs and knocked out India. The massive, dipping back-of-the-hand slower variation was one that McCoy had honed while playing in the CPL. To a certain extent, it is the left-arm variant of the calling card that Dwayne Bravo uses.
