Mustafizur Rahman, also known as “The Fizz,” is a highly skilled Bangladeshi cricketer renowned for his outstanding ability to bowl accurately with his left arm seam bowling technique. He is also known by the alias “The Fizz.” Mustafizur, born on September 6, 1995, in Satkhira, Bangladesh, has established himself as one of the most exceptional and much desired bowlers in international cricket. Over the course of his career, he has garnered some respect from his peers.
The little village of Satkhira in the southwest of Bangladesh was Mustafizur’s childhood home. His love for cricket began at that school. Teachers from the surrounding area go to see him bowl because of his natural talent and distinctive style, which includes misleading shifts in pace and movement.
In April 2015, Mustafizur made his debut for Bangladesh in a One Day International (ODI) match against Pakistan. This victory marked his first international appearance. He got five wickets for fifty runs, becoming just the second bowler in the history of the game to record a five-wicket haul in his first one-day international. His performance was a magnificent show of talent and calm.
Following his remarkable debut, Mustafizur soon established himself as a prominent member of the Bangladesh cricket squad across all forms. His performance was particularly excellent. Mustafizur’s debut performance against Pakistan was widely regarded as one of the best in the history of one-day internationals, leading him immediate praise and recognition from cricket fans and sports analysts worldwide. The year 2016 was the year when Mustafizur became the quickest bowler in the history of the game to achieve 50 one-day international wickets for Bangladesh. He only had to battle twenty-four times to finish this.
For franchise cricket particularly in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Mustafizur has also had a significant impact. He proved his ability in 2016 by significantly helping the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad to win the Indian Premier League. This proved that he could play at a high level abroad. He has received many distinctions from the International Cricket Council (ICC) in recognition of his outstanding performance. These include being chosen for several ICC teams of the year and participating in the vote process for the Emerging Cricketer of the Year award.
Though he has been somewhat successful, Mustafizur has had to deal with illnesses all over his career, most notably with recurring shoulder issues. Conversely, he has proved that he is tenacious and driven by conquering challenges, returning successfully to the national squad, and keeping on performance for his whole cricket career.
Zimbabwe was the host nation for three one-day internationals and two Twenty20 matches during November. During the one-day international matches, Mustafizur was a significant player, as he took a total of eight wickets. He was unable to make a significant contribution to the Twenty20 series, even though he bowled economically, which contributed to both teams winning the series. In January of the following year, Bangladesh once again competed against Zimbabwe in four Twenty20 matches. There were two matches that they won, and Mustafizur was a part of both of them. Mustafizur had a shoulder injury in January 2016, as he was bowling in the second Twenty20 International match against Zimbabwe.
As a consequence of this, he was removed from the squad for the very first time since making his debut. Due to the strain on his side, he was once again unable to participate in the Asia Cup, which was held the following month. He was only able to play in the first three games of the tournament. His participation in the 2016 ICC World Twenty20, which took place in India in March, allowed him to face off against New Zealand, Australia, and India.
In the history of the Twenty20 World Cup, he made history by being the first Bangladeshi bowler to ever take five wickets. He did this by capturing five wickets for a total of 22 runs against New Zealand. During the 2016 edition, he was responsible for a total of nine wickets in three matches. At the Twenty20 World Cup in 2016, the International Cricket Council (ICC) selected him as the 12th man on the ‘Team of the Tournament’.Again, Mustafizur was unable to participate in all of Bangladesh’s matches on their trip to New Zealand, which took place between December 2016 and January 2017.
For the first time since August 2015, he participated in a test match against Sri Lanka in Galle in March of 2017. He ended up taking eight wickets throughout the series. In April 2018, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) selected 10 cricket players to get a central contract in preparation for the 2018 season. He was one of those players. The announcement that he will be a part of Bangladesh’s team for the 2019 Cricket World Cup came in April of this year.
On the 5th of July 2019, Mustafizur grabbed his 100th wicket in a one-day international, which was a match against Pakistan. He ended the tournament with twenty wickets, making him the best wicket-taker for Bangladesh. He played eight matches and had twenty dismissals. Following the conclusion of the World Cup, the International Cricket Council (ICC) singled out Mustafizur as the team’s most promising rookie. To begin his professional Twenty20 career outside of international cricket, Mustafizur participated in the Bangladesh Premier League with the Dhaka Dynamites during the 2015 season. This was his first professional Twenty20 career.
