An Australian international cricketer who now competes for Australia, New South Wales, and the Sydney Sixers, Moisés Constantino Henriques was born on February 1, 1987. He is a member of the Australian national team. It is the first time that a cricket player who was born in Portugal has ever represented Australia in an international match. He is an all-rounder. When Henriques was just 16 years old, he was chosen to be a part of the Australian Under-19 cricket team’s roster for the 2004 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh. During that tournament, he took 11 wickets at a rate of 19.27 and scored 95 runs at a rate of 19.00.
The Australian Under-19 cricket team selected Henriques to be a part of their trip to India for a One-Day series against the Indian Under-19 cricket team in September of 2005. Even though Australia emerged victorious in the series, Henriques stood out as a bright spot. In addition to claiming eight wickets at an average of 18.25, he scored 132 runs at an average of 44.00. Henriques was given the responsibility of leading the Australian Under-19 side to a semi-final position in the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, which was held in Sri Lanka. Henriques’s exemplary performance earned him the title of captain of the Australian Under-19 squad.
He ended as the best wicket-taker in the World Cup, claiming 16 wickets at a rate of 10.52 in five matches. He was a standout performer of the tournament, scoring 150 runs at 37.50 and finishing as the leading wicket-taker overall. In the seventeen matches that he participated in while playing for the Australian Under-19 squad, he was responsible for 35 wickets at a rate of 15.08 and scored 377 runs at an average of 31.41. Since the Under-19 Cricket World Cup began, Moises Henriques has taken 27 wickets, making him tied with Greg Thompson for the record for most wickets taken in the tournament’s history.
It was against Victoria on January 2, 2006, when Henriques made his debut for New South Wales in the List A competition. As New South Wales prevailed by a razor-thin margin, he bowled eight overs and allowed 46 runs. Because he was just 18 years old when he made his debut, he became the youngest person to ever make a debut on List A for New South Wales. After six days, Henriques made his debut in the Twenty20 format, however, he did not bat or bowl in that particular match.

On the 17th of October in 2006, he made his debut in the first-class competition against South Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Only one week after this match, Henriques bowled swiftly against Queensland and grabbed five wickets and seventeen runs against it. As a result of this, he became the youngest player from New South Wales to ever take five wickets in a first-class innings except Doug Walters. Despite this, Henriques had not participated in a first-class game for more than a year because of an injury.
Once again, he was able to secure a spot in the team by recovering his health and putting out good performances for his club, St. George, in Sydney Grade Cricket. After that, he has shown a great level of consistency in his performances with both the bat and the ball. One of his most notable achievements occurred recently in the Matador One Day Cup when he hit 131 against Victoria, which was his maiden century in List A. He is the captain of the New South Wales team. The injury he sustained will allow him to return near the end of November.
A collision occurred between Henriques and his teammate Rory Burns in June 2015, as Henriques was trying to take a catch for Surrey in a NatWest Twenty20 Blast match against Sussex Sharks at Arundel Castle. Henriques sustained a fractured jaw as a result of the incident, which rendered both players unconscious. Ambulances and medical personnel provided treatment to the players on the field before transporting both of them to the hospital. The game was called off because of the injuries that occurred.
During the fourth season of the Indian Premier League, Moises Henriques was a member of the Mumbai Indians team; however, he was unable to participate due to an injury to his adductor muscle. Following the termination of his contract with the Mumbai Indians club for the Indian Premier League, he was subsequently acquired by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the player auction held in 2013 for the Indian Premier League season six. The Kings XI Punjab purchased him in the player auction for the 2019 Indian Premier League after he had a successful run with Sunrisers Hyderabad from 2014 to 2017. The transaction took place in December of 2018.

It was announced in July 2019 that he would be participating in the first-ever match of the Euro Twenty20 Slam cricket event, which would be played for the Glasgow Giants. However, the event was canceled the month after it was scheduled to take place. Ahead of the Indian Premier League auction in 2020, the Kings XI Punjab decided to release him. The Punjab Kings made the purchase of Henriques at the IPL auction that took place in February 2021, just before the beginning of the 2021 Indian Premier League.
On February 15, 2009, Henriques made his debut in a Twenty20 International match against New Zealand in Sydney. Unfortunately, he was run out for just one run, which was his first and only international appearance. The injuries sustained by Brett Lee and James Hopes during Australia’s tour of India in October led to the call-up of Henriques to the national team. There was a hamstring injury that James Hopes had sustained. It is ironic because shortly after Henriques participated in the game in place of Hopes, he too suffered a hamstring injury.
