In the sport of cricket, Michael Gordon Bracewell, who was born on February 14, 1991, is a New Zealand player who now represents Wellington. Brendon and John Bracewell, both of whom played in the Test match era, are his nephews. He is also the cousin of Doug Bracewell, who is now playing for the international team, and Melanie Bracewell, who is a comedian. Within Dunedin, he was a student at Kavanagh College. It was in March of 2022 that he made his debut for the New Zealand cricket team on the international stage.
He received a contract with Wellington for the 2018–19 season in June of 2018, and it was granted to him. It was in the sixth round of the 2019–20 Plunket Shield season when Bracewell achieved his first-ever five-wicket haul in first-class cricket. This occurred in March of 2020. Around the time when the domestic cricket season of 2020–21 was about to begin, Wellington made him an offer of a contract in June of 2020. Bracewell scored 141 runs without being out for the Wellington Firebirds in the 2021–22 Super Smash competition, which took place on January 8, 2022. The Central Stags participated in the tournament.
A Twenty20 cricket match in New Zealand has never seen a total quite like that before. For their home series against the Netherlands, they have selected their One-Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) teams. When New Zealand played the Netherlands on March 29, 2022, he made his first appearance in a One-Day International. In May of 2022, Bracewell was selected to be a member of the New Zealand Test team that would be traveling to England.
His first appearance in a test match was on June 10, 2022, when he played for New Zealand against England. The first century that Bracewell ever scored in one-day international cricket came in July 2022, when he was playing Ireland in the opening match of the series. On July 18, 2022, Bracewell made his debut in a Twenty20 International on behalf of New Zealand against Ireland. Two days later, in the following match of the series against Ireland, Bracewell bowled his maiden over in an international match, and he scored his first hat-trick in Twenty20 International cricket.

During the first one-day international match of the series, which took place in January 2023, Bracewell achieved the third-quickest century for New Zealand in the history of one-day international cricket. In addition to this, he tied the record set by MS Dhoni for being the first hitter to score more than one century when batting at number seven or below. Because of this, Michael Bracewell was not able to get any deal with an Indian Premier League team. Throughout the IPL mini-auction 2024 that took place in Dubai, Bracewell did not sell. Even though Bracewell was only able to play in five matches during the Indian Premier League 2023, he managed to wow everyone with his performance. With Worcestershire competing in the English county season, Michael Bracewell suffered an injury while playing for the team. Bracewell is still in the process of recuperation, and he may be healthy before the Indian Premier League 2024, but no club was willing to risk their money on a Kiwi all-rounder.
Because of his injuries, Bracewell was unable to participate in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 for New Zealand, and he has not yet completely recovered from himself. As a result, Bracewell was not able to participate in the first series of the New Zealand home summer game against Bangladesh.
