In a Twenty20 International match, O’Dowd became the first batter for the Netherlands to hit a century. He did so by scoring 133 runs without being out from 73 balls. After Tom Cooper, he became the second batsman in history to register half-centuries in each of his first three one-day international matches, which took place in May 2021 during the inaugural one-day international match between the Netherlands and Scotland. O’Dowd was the player who scored the most runs during the West Indies tour of the Netherlands in 2022. He accomplished this by scoring 179 runs over three matches, including 89 runs in the last game.
Van Beek gave out the double fist pump, fully conscious of the enormity of the wicket, and almost did not bother to turn around to observe Langton Rusere’s verdict after he had already made his judgment. A second casualty of the Powerplay, which crippled a Nepali hit back and silenced more or less a full house of Nepali supporters who had already waited ten years for their chance in the Twenty20 World Cup. After Tim Pringle and Logan van Beek each took three wickets, Max O’Dowd hammered an unbroken half-century to help the Netherlands begin their Twenty20 World Cup campaign with a six-wicket win against Nepal in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday. The match marked the Netherlands’ first victory in the tournament.
