Marcus Peter Stoinis is a cricketer from Australia who now represents the national team in limited-overs cricket. He was born on August 16, 1989, of the Australian national squad. Domestically, he is under contract with the Western Australia and Melbourne Stars, and he has also played for the Perth Scorchers and Victoria in the past as an all-rounder. It was Stoinis who was a part of the Australian side that triumphed in the Twenty20 World Cup in 2021 and the Cricket World Cup in 2023.
Stoinis, who was born in Perth and is of Greek descent, is an Australian sportsman who has represented Western Australia at both the under-17 and under-19 levels of competition. When Stoinis was a member of the Australian under-19 cricket team, he participated in the ICC Under-19 World Cup in 2008. next, he competed for Australia in the Hong Kong Sixes tournament the next year. Stoinis did not make his debut in the List A competition for Western Australia until the 2008–2009 Ford Ranger Cup. Before that, he had participated in many Futures League matches for the state under-23 team.
It was against Queensland at the Gabba that he made his debut in both the one-day and Sheffield Shield competitions, which took place two days later. During the 2008–2009 season, Stoinis participated in one more Sheffield Shield game and two more Ford Ranger Cup matches. During the 2009–10 season, he participated in one match in each tournament, although he was not picked regularly.
Stoinis has participated in club cricket in Australia, playing for Scarborough in the Western Australian Grade Cricket tournament and for Northcote in the Victorian Premier Cricket. Both of these teams are players in the Australian Cricket League. One of the matches he played for the Peterborough Town Cricket Club in the Northampton Premier League during the 2012 English season resulted in him scoring a hat trick. He spent a portion of the season playing for the club.

In addition, when Stoinis was in England, he participated in five matches for Kent County Cricket Club in the Second XI Championship. Stoinis was chosen to be a member of the Perth Scorchers’ roster for the Big Bash League season of 2012–2013. He was chosen to take the place of Mitchell Marsh, who was injured during the previous season. At the beginning of the 2013 season, Stoinis started representing Victoria in the domestic competition. He later moved back to Western Australia for the 2017–18 season.
The Delhi Daredevils decided to acquire his services before the beginning of the 2015 season of the Indian Premier League. Following that, the Kings XI Punjab purchased him for a total of 5.5 million Indian Rupees (INR) for the 2016 season at the auction. It was on May 13, 2016, when he played for Kings XI against Mumbai Indians that he earned his career-best Twenty20 stats. He took four wickets and fifteen runs from his four overs.
As a result of Stoinis’s promotion to the position of permanent opening batsman for the Melbourne Stars in 2018, the move proved to be profitable. During the 2018-19 Big Bash League season, Stoinis was the highest run scorer for the Stars. He scored 533 runs at an average of 53.30, and he also took 14 wickets. Stoinis signed a four-year agreement at the beginning of the season. In advance of the Indian Premier League auction in 2020, the Royal Challengers Bangalore decided to release him.
Before the start of the 2020 Indian Premier League, the Delhi Capitals decided to purchase him via the IPL auction in the year 2020. Stoinis was given a $7,500 fine for making a derogatory remark against Renegades bowler Kane Richardson during the Melbourne derby that took place on January 5, 2020. He admitted that he was “caught in the moment and took it too far” which prompted him to express regret for the event.

Stoinis established a new record for the highest individual score in the Big Bash League on January 12, 2020, when he struck 147 for 79 balls while playing against Sydney Sixers. The Barbados Tridents announced in July 2020 that he would be a member of their team for the Caribbean Premier League in 2020. Marcus Stoinis was a member of the Delhi Capitals, a team that competed in the Indian Premier League in the year 2021.
Before the postponement of the Indian Premier League, he had a total of 71 runs scored at an average of 23.66 and two wickets taken at an average of 54.50. On the 31st of August 2015, Stoinis made his debut in the Twenty20 International Championship against England. It was against the same side that he made his debut in the One-Day International competition on September 11, 2015. During his second one-day international match, which took place on January 30, 2017, Stoinis grabbed three wickets and scored 146 runs without being out.
When an Australian batsman batted seventh in the batting order, he achieved the greatest one-day international score ever. The award for man of the match went to Stoinis, even though his side ended up losing. Although he did not participate in either of the two matches, he was included in the Australia Test team for the third and fourth Tests against India in March of 2017. This was done as a substitute for Mitchell Marsh, who was injured during the previous two matches.
Throughout the 2018–19 season, Cricket Australia granted him a national contract in April of 2018. The addition of his name to Australia’s Test team for the second test match against Sri Lanka took place in January of every year. The announcement that he will be a part of Australia’s team for the 2019 Cricket World Cup came in April of this year. Stoinis had a side strain injury at the 2019 World Cup, after having participated in the first four games of the tournament.
