A South African cricketer who now represents Gloucestershire, Marchant de Lange was born on October 13, 1990. He currently plays for Somerset. The South African team decided to call him up for the series against Sri Lanka despite his relative obscurity and lack of first-class experience. He is a right-arm fast bowler and a right-handed batsman who plays at the tail end of the batting order. In the second test match against Sri Lanka, De Lange was chosen as a late substitute for Vernon Philander. He made his debut in the test match and recorded statistics of 8/126, including 7/81 in the first innings of the Sri Lankan team.
In the year 2011, these stats are the best for any bowler in the history of Test cricket. In addition to having the ability to develop swing and accuracy, de Lange is a tall right-arm fast bowler. De Lange was a javelin thrower before he began his career as a cricket player, which is the reason he was able to achieve such an incredible speed from a short run-up, which was around 145–150 kilometers per hour. In 2010, when de Lange was just 19 years old, he made his maiden appearance in a class match for Easterns versus Free State. He finished with match numbers of 4 matches and 99 runs.
He was picked up to the South African side for the series against Sri Lanka, despite his relative obscurity and lack of first-class experience. He excelled in the second test with his speed and bounce, claiming 7–81 in the first innings of the Sri Lankan innings and taking 1–56 in the second innings. At the beginning of 2012, he was playing in an unofficial Twenty20 series in Zimbabwe when he sustained an injury. As a result, he had to modify his actions to avoid the injury from occurring again in the future.
On the 19th of February in 2012, he played his first Twenty20 match, which was against New Zealand in Hamilton. On the very first day of his career, he bowled Martin Guptill out. The Kolkata Knight Riders made a surprising acquisition of Marchant de Lange at the Indian Premier League Auction in 2012. They purchased him for the basic price of $50,000. There were three matches that he participated in during the season, and he took three wickets at an average of 35.66.

The Mumbai Indians paid Rs. 30 lakhs to get this outstanding bowler at the player’s auction for the Indian Premier League in 2014. It was in their second match against Delhi Daredevils that he made his debut for them, taking the place of Lasith Malinga, who was their finest bowler. Because Mumbai needed to win all of their matches to qualify for the playoffs, this match was very critical. Even though he was out for ten in his first over, he made a remarkable recovery, bowling out Dinesh Karthik with the very first ball he delivered to him and then going on to take the crucial wicket of Manoj Tiwary. He amazed everyone with his performance.
As a result of his ability to maintain his composure and shift the tide of the game in his team’s favor, he was awarded the Kanna Keep Calm award and ended with figures of 32. The Durban Heat selected him to be a member of their team for the first Mzansi Super League Twenty20 event, which took place in October 2018. While he was playing for the Trent Rockets in 2021, he was the first player to ever take a five-wicket haul in the very first edition of The Hundred Competition. This included wickets with consecutive deliveries, which resulted in the outing of the hosts for 171, which was 238 runs behind Gloucestershire’s first-innings total of 409. At the end of his first game for Northamptonshire, Siddarth Kaul finished with statistics of 5-76, which included a five-wicket haul.
