Liton Kumar Das is a Bangladeshi cricketer who was born on October 13, 1994. He is now serving as the vice-captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team in all forms including the Twenty20 International. He bats right-handed and also keeps wickets. He is a wicket-keeper. In June 2015, he made his team’s debut on the international stage for Bangladesh. In one-day international cricket, he has achieved the highest individual score for Bangladesh, which is 176.
On the thirteenth of October in the year 1994, Liton Kumar Das was born into a Bengali Hindu household in the Dinajpur area of Bangladesh. Litton is an alternate spelling of his name. There are two brothers in his family. He participated in age-group cricket when he was attending school at Bangladesh’s Krira Shikkha Protishtan. On July 28, 2019, he tied the knot with his long-term love, Devashri Biswas Sonchita, who is an agriculturist in the city of Mirpur in the country of Bangladesh. In November of 2023, they welcomed a daughter into the world.
When Das was 13 years old, he was a member of the Bangladesh Under-15s team during the 2007–2008 season. Beginning in 2009 and continuing through 2011, he was a member of the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan team. As a result of his selection for both the Under-17s and the Under-19s during the 2010–11 season, he went on to compete for the Under-19s in the Under-19 World Cups in both 2012 and 2014. During the year 2013, he was still a youngster when he participated in the Bangladesh Under-23s.
While he was a member of the Rangpur Division in the National Cricket League for the 2014–15 season, he concluded the seven-match season with 1,024 runs at an average of 85.33. He also hit five hundreds during that time. It was the Rangpur Division that emerged victorious. While playing for East Zone in the 2016–17 Bangladesh Cricket League, Das achieved his first double-century in first-class cricket in January of 2017. This was his first big score in the sport.

As a consequence of this, he earned a spot back in Bangladesh’s Test team for the one-off match that they played against India in February of 2017. During the 2016–17 Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League season, Das amassed the most number of runs scored, with 752 in 14 matches. As of April 2018, Das has scored 779 runs in six matches in the 2017–18 Bangladesh Cricket League, including 274 runs in one innings. This made him the player with the highest run total in the league at that point.
As a result of the draft for the 2018–19 Bangladesh Premier League, Das was among the players selected for the Sylhet Sixers team in October of 2018. During the 2019 Caribbean Premier League, he made his debut in an offshore franchise league by playing for Jamaica Tallawahs. This was his first time competing in such a competition. Two of the matches in the competition resulted in him scoring 44 runs.
His selection to play for the Rajshahi Royals in the 2019–20 Bangladesh Premier League came in November of 2019, and he ended up amassing 455 runs throughout the competition. Das participated in the Bangabandhu Twenty20 Cup for Gazi Group Barishal during the 2020-21 season. There was a rescheduling of matches in the 2021 Pakistan Super League, and Karachi Kings signed him in April 2021 to participate in those matches.
The Kolkata Knight Riders purchased Das in March 2023 for a sum of ₹50 lakh, which is equivalent to around $63,000 in US currency, to participate in the 2023 Indian Premier League. He only participated in one game throughout that season, and he only scored four runs. In June 2018, Bangladesh traveled to the United States and the West Indies to compete in two tests, three one-day internationals (ODIs), and three Twenty20 internationals.

Not only did Das manage to reach double digits among other hitters, but he also managed to set a record for himself by scoring a measly 25 runs off of 53 balls in a losing cause during the first test. This was Bangladesh’s lowest team total in the history of tests. It was in the third Twenty20 encounter against West Indies that he achieved his maiden half-century off of a white ball, which he did after 24 deliveries. It was also his first score of 50 or more in 17 innings, which he did to get 61 runs, which ultimately led to the victory of the Twenty20 International series 2-1. He also ended up receiving the award for Player of the Encounter.
Das scored 126 runs in the inaugural one-day international. This was his second century in one-day internationals, and he became the first Bangladeshi batsman to achieve a century at Sylhet. The match took place in March 2020, when Zimbabwe was touring Bangladesh. He earned his 1000th run in one-day internationals during the third one-day international. After that, he and Tamim Iqbal set the biggest partnership for Bangladesh in one-day internationals for any wicket, which was 292 runs. In addition, he scored 176 runs off of 143 balls. In one-day internationals, he achieved the greatest individual score ever of any Bangladeshi batsman.
Throughout the one-day international series, Das became the “Player of the Tournament” together with Tamim Iqbal. He finished with 311 runs and an average of 103.68 runs per game. When the West Indies were touring Bangladesh in February 2021, he was one of the top run scorers and the highest run scorer for Bangladesh in the Test series. He scored 200 runs, including two half-centuries, earning him the title of greatest run scorer for Bangladesh. In June of 2021, he was selected to be a member of the Bangladeshi team that included players from all forms for their trip to Zimbabwe.
In the first innings of the one-off test match against Zimbabwe, he fell five runs short of his first-ever century in a test match. He and Mahmudullah were able to maintain a relationship that resulted in 138 runs. This partnership was the second-best seventh-wicket partnership in the history of Bangladesh’s Test matches, and it was the highest seventh-wicket partnership for Bangladesh. The announcement that he will be a part of Bangladesh’s team for the 2021 ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup came in September 2021.
