In April 2014, it was revealed that Simmons had been signed by Mumbai Indians, a team that competes in the Indian Premier League. Simmons was taking over for Jalaj Saxena. Simmons’ international career stretched sixteen years, as he said in his tweet on the subject. He played for the West Indies in eight tests, 68 one-day internationals, and 68 Twenty20 internationals, and he scored 3763 runs across all forms. It all began with his first one-day international match, which took place in Faisalabad versus Pakistan. Unfortunately, he was out for a duck after two balls. He finished with a total of 1958 runs in one-day internationals, including two centuries, and an average of 31.58. Simmons has made quite a reputation for himself in the shorter format of the game, even though his figures in Tests are not very impressive — he did not hit a single fifty or hundreds.
During the Twenty20 World Cup in 2016, he was instrumental in the West Indies victory by scoring 82 runs off of 51 balls in the semi-final match against India, the hosts of the tournament. Simmons’s career in franchise cricket has been nothing short of remarkable. He has played for several clubs, including the Trinbago Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Karachi Kings, and Sylhet Sunrisers on many occasions. With a total of 2629 runs scored throughout 91 innings, including 20 half-centuries, he holds the record for the most runs scored in the history of the CPL.
