The women’s roster included all-rounders Zaida James and Sheneta Grimmond for the first time, while the men’s list had four new players: batsmen Alick Athanaze, Keacy Carty, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, and left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie. The men’s team also contained four new faces. This is not the first time that prominent players have declined contracts with the West Indies; Kieron Pollard is one of the players who has done so.
