Karim Janat is a baseball player from Afghanistan who was born on August 11th, 1998. On the 7th of December 2016, he made his debut in the first-class competition against the England Lions. Before making his debut in the first-class format, he was a member of Afghanistan’s team that competed in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2016. During the 2017 Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament, he was the joint-leading wicket-taker with Zahir Khan, with twelve dismissals. He was also the player with the most boundaries.
Additionally, he was the highest wicket-taker for Kabul Region in the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament in 2018, with a total of thirty dismissals in ten matches throughout the tournament. He was selected to be a member of Kandahar’s team for the first competition of the Afghanistan Premier League, which took place in September 2018. He was a joint winner of the player of the tournament title in the 2020 Shpageeza Cricket League, which took place in September of that year.
His first choices in international franchise events came in 2021 when he was chosen by the Colombo Stars for the 2021 Lanka Premier League and the Sylhet Sunrisers for the 2022 Bangladesh Premier League. Both of these selections were made by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The Colombo Stars decided to recruit him in July 2022 so that he may participate in the third season of the Lanka Premier League. In the Twenty20 International (T20I) match that took place on December 14, 2016, he made his debut against the United Arab Emirates Team.
In the match, he was responsible for three wickets and scored 25 runs. His comprehensive effort earned him the title of man of the match for the very first time. On February 24, 2017, he played his first One-Day International (ODI) match, which was against Zimbabwe and took place at the Harare Sports Club.
The announcement of his inclusion in Afghanistan’s under-23 squad for the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup came in December of 2018. His maiden five-wicket haul in Twenty20 International cricket came on November 16, 2019, when he grabbed five wickets in the second match against the West Indies.

For his four overs, he was able to take five wickets and only allow eleven runs, earning him the title of player of the match. He was selected to be a member of Afghanistan’s Test team for the one-off match against the West Indies, which took place in November of 2019. The announcement that he will be a part of Afghanistan’s team for the 2021 ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup came in September 2021. On the occasion of India’s dramatic victory over Afghanistan in the third Twenty20 International in Bengaluru, Karim Janat, an all-rounder for Afghanistan, expressed his opinion that Rohit Sharma should not have been let to bat in the second Super Over.
When India batted first, they relied on Rohit’s fifth hundred in Twenty20 Internationals to reach 212/4. After that, they restricted Afghanistan to the same total and forced them to play a Super Over. During the Super Over, the two teams once again tied, which is the reason why there was a second Super Over. On the other hand, Rohit batted in the second position, which sparked a debate. Even though the players from Afghanistan, led by captain Ibrahim Zadran, engaged in a heated discussion with the umpires, Rohit batted and was instrumental in the victory. An individual named Janat, who was a member of the Afghanistan playing eleven, complained that Rohit had violated the regulations.
In the high-pressure world of Twenty20 cricket, records are often set and broken. The most recent match between India and Afghanistan, which took place at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, was no exception to this rule, as it displayed both success and hardship. While India’s captain Rohit Sharma stole the show with a record-breaking sixth Twenty20 International century during the first innings of the match, Afghanistan’s Karim Janat found himself making headlines for reasons that were less desired.
As a result of his participation in the Afghanistan team for the Asia Cup on Sunday, bowling all-rounder Karim Janat is likely to see action in his first one-day international match in six years. During the year 2017, the 25-year-old player participated in a single one-day match in Zimbabwe. In June of this year, he made his debut in a test match against Bangladesh. Sharafuddin Ashraf, another all-rounder, was also recalled to the 17-man squad, along with Wafadar Momand and Azmatullah Omarzai, both of whom were members of the team that was defeated by Pakistan in a series by a score of 3-0.

Karim Janat, an all-rounder for Afghanistan, said that the squad gained a lot of knowledge from their recent trip to India and expressed the hope that they can give a strong performance in the forthcoming ICC Twenty20 World Cup, which will be hosted in the United Arab Emirates and the West Indies this year. Afghanistan is a member of Group C in the notable Twenty20 International competition that will begin on June 1. Other teams in this group are New Zealand, West Indies, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea. Afghanistan will begin its battle against Uganda on June 3, and it will last until August 3.
The success of the Asian team in the 50-over World Cup, in which they won four matches out of nine, including victories against England, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, and came very close to reaching the quarterfinals, would serve as a source of motivation for them. About the second season of the International League Twenty20 (ILT20), which is now underway and in which he is a member of the Gulf Giants, Janat said, “This league is really good.” The fact that a lot of famous players come here to play and share their expertise is one of the reasons why this league is beneficial to us. There is a really pleasant environment here.”
