Moreover, Richardson was a part of the Australian side that triumphed in the Twenty20 World Cup in the year 2021. Richardson is from South Australia and is a quick bowler who uses his right arm. Even though he has had difficulty maintaining consistency in first-class matches throughout his career, he is commonly considered to be a white ball specialist owing to his achievements in the shorter forms of the game. Besides being an accomplished bowler, he is also a capable hitter and an agile fielder. He is a very versatile player.
At the beginning of May 2022, Richardson decided to leave the South Australia cricket team and join the Queensland cricket squad. In 2009, Richardson was selected to be a member of the under-19 team that represented Australia on their tour of India in preparation for the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2010. A youth test match against India was one of the matches in which he took five wickets when he was on tour in India. Immediately after the trip, he traveled to Kenya with the squad to compete in the World Cup.
Throughout the event, he participated in three matches and excelled with both his bat and his ball. His first outstanding performance was against Ireland when he scored 23 runs off of 14 balls and grabbed three wickets with the new ball to assist Australia in achieving a crushing win by 209 runs. We pulled him into the lineup for the World Cup final against Pakistan, and he ended up scoring the most runs with 44, which contributed to Australia winning their third Under-19 World Cup championship.

Throughout his youth career, Richardson participated in 10 youth One Day Internationals (ODI) and two young Test matches throughout his career. When Such Australia defeated New South Wales in the championship match of the Big Bash competition in 2010–2011, Richardson was an integral component of the team’s victory. He took three wickets that were important to the victory. In this season, his success spilled over into the other forms of the game as well. He had a man-of-the-match bowling performance against Queensland in the Ryobi Cup, and then he made his first-class debut for South Australia in the following Sheffield Shield game. His performance was excellent.
It was his first time playing first-class cricket, and he made a strong impression by claiming a wicket in each of his first three overs. After the season, he was elevated from a rookie contract with South Australia to a full contract for the very first time. Furthermore, when the Big Bash League was introduced to replace the Big Bash, he remained in Adelaide and began playing for the new Adelaide Strikers. The 2012–2013 season was a breakthrough for Richardson, notably in the Ryobi Cup, when he grabbed 21 wickets in only five matches with a very respectable average of 13.8, including a six-wicket haul against Queensland. Richardson’s performance in the Ryobi Cup was particularly impressive.
Richardson made his debut on the international stage on January 13, 2013, when he came in to replace Mitchell Starc, who was carrying an injury, in the second one-day international match against Sri Lanka. This came on the heels of his impressive exploits for South Australia and the Adelaide Strikers. In his debut One Day International, he was dismissed by umpire Marais Erasmus for continuously rushing on the field in his follow-through. He managed to get a first ball duck leg before wicket to Lasith Malinga, as well as the impressive numbers of six overs, three maidens, and no wickets for 15 runs.
During the remainder of the season, he was required to make adjustments to his follow-through, but he continued to demonstrate his prowess in domestic cricket by taking five wickets against Victoria and six wickets against New South Wales. Even though he had only participated in six first-class matches up to that point, Richardson captured the attention of people all over the world when he was purchased by Pune Warriors in the Indian Premier League player’s auction in 2013 for the price of $700,000. This was the third-highest price of any player during that season.
