In his first Twenty20 International match, which took place on November 5, 2014, Kagiso Rabada played against Australia. It was against Bangladesh on July 10, 2015, that he made his debut in the one-day international competition. In his first One-Day International (ODI) match, Rabada became just the second player in history to achieve a hat-trick, which is defined as three wickets in a row.
The first time he played a test match was on November 5, 2015, and it was against India. In the following years, he was chosen to participate in the trip against England during the 2015–16 season. During the fourth test match that South Africa played against England, Rabada took 13 wickets, making him the youngest South African bowler to ever accomplish a ten-wicket haul in a test match. It was because of his effort that his squad was able to defeat England on their field.
Rabada was embroiled in a dispute with English player Ben Stokes during South Africa’s tour of England in 2017. The dispute occurred after Rabada had dismissed Stokes on the opening day of the first test match at ‘Lord’s Cricket Ground. After that, Rabada was judged to have used “inappropriate language” during the game, which resulted in his being banned for the second test match.
Throughout South Africa’s tour of England in 2017, Rabada became the highest-ranked one-day international bowler in the world after taking four wickets in the third one-day international match. In addition to this, he became the youngest player to ever lead the ‘ICC One-Day International bowler rankings,’ surpassing Saqlain Mushtaq in 1998. It was during the first test match of the year 2018 against India when he took five wickets, which propelled him to the position of being the highest-ranked Test bowler in the world.
When the Australians were in town for the second test match in 2018, he got 11 wickets against them. Because of his performance, he was able to surpass 900 points in the ICC Test bowler rankings. This accomplishment made him the fourth South African to accomplish this achievement, following in the footsteps of Shaun Pollock, Vernon Philander, and Dale Steyn. He achieved the distinction of becoming the youngest bowler to ever take 150 wickets in a Test match in July of 2018. Moreover, he became the third-fastest South African bowler to reach the milestone of 150 wickets in a test match.
