Gulbadin Naib is a notable cricketer from Afghanistan. He was born on March 16th, 1991. Not only is Naib a right-handed batter, but he also bowls right-arm fast-medium. He is an all-rounder. While Asghar Afghan was serving as the team’s captain for the One Day International (ODI) matches leading up to the 2019 Cricket World Cup, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced in April 2019 that Naib would take up the role. After the conclusion of the Cricket World Cup, Afghanistan was unable to win any of its matches.
The Afghanistan cricket team has promoted Rashid Khan to the position of captain for all three forms of the game. At the Asian Games in 2022, Afghanistan won the silver medal under the leadership of Naib. The video shows Naib working out at a gym in Kabul, and he mentions Arnold Schwarzenegger as one of the people who has inspired him. Two years after the documentary was shot, Naib was removed from his position on the Afghan side. This occurred after the documentary was completed.
The Afghan team that competed at the Asian Games in 2010 included him as a member of the squad, and he participated in a single match against Hong Kong. In the tournament, Afghanistan came out on top, earning the silver medal. When Afghanistan became the first team to travel to Pakistan following the attack on the Sri Lanka national cricket team in 2009, he made his debut for Afghanistan when they became the first team to tour Pakistan. Among the three unofficial One-Day Internationals (ODIs) that Pakistan A played, Naib participated in two of them.
During the 2011–13 tournament for the ICC Intercontinental Cup One-Day, Naib made his debut in the One-Day International competition against Canada.[8]: After that, he made his Twenty20 debut against Trinidad and Tobago in the Cricket Canada Summer Festival. He also made another appearance during the same event, this time against Canada. Both of these matches took place later in the trip. In the latter part of 2011, he participated in the Faysal Bank Twenty-20 Cup 2011-12 as a member of the Afghan Cheetahs squad, which had just been founded. Both the Multan Tigers and the Faisalabad Wolves. In the course of the competition, he achieved his first Twenty20 half-century by hitting 68 runs off of 42 balls against Faisalabad Wolves. In the final of the 2011 ACC Twenty20 Cup, which took place in December 2011, his total of 57 runs from 50 balls made a significant contribution to Afghanistan’s victory against Hong Kong by eight runs. This victory ensured that Afghanistan would win their third ACC Twenty20 Cup championship.
The following year, in February 2012, Naib was a part of Afghanistan’s first One-Day International match against a Full Member Test-playing country. The match took place in Sharjah and targeted Pakistan. Before being one of Shahid Afridi’s five wickets, Naib scored seven runs throughout the match. Pakistan prevailed in the match by a score of seven wickets. During the World Twenty20 Qualifier that took place in the United Arab Emirates in March of 2012, he was chosen to be a member of Afghanistan’s fourteen-man team.
During this event, Naib made his debut in the Twenty20 International (T20I) competition against the Netherlands. He went on to make two further appearances in the T20I competition. In addition, he went on to play a total of six Twenty20 matches against countries who were competing in the qualifier but did not have the status of Twenty20 Internationals itself. He had a best score of 26 runs without being out throughout the qualifying, which resulted in him scoring 86 runs at an average of 13.50.
Following the conclusion of the competition, he participated in two one-day internationals (ODIs) against the Netherlands in the World Cricket League Championship. Naib was a member of Afghanistan’s team that traveled to Ireland in 2012 as part of their obligations to compete in the Intercontinental Cup. During the trip, he also made his first-class debut in the Intercontinental Cup match. Alex Cusack was the one who dismissed Naib for 13 runs in his sole innings of the match. In Ireland’s first innings, he grabbed the wicket of Andrew Balbirnie, bringing his total to one wicket for 33 from six overs. He finished with stats of one for 33. In the second one-day international that Afghanistan played against a full-member team, which took place in Sharjah in August 2012, Naib was a part of the team.
It was during the first innings of Australia’s innings that he bowled two overs that resulted in the loss of 18 runs. Additionally, he was responsible for the outing of David Hussey. During Afghanistan’s chase, he hit a quickfire 22 off of 17 balls, which included three sixes, before being removed by James Pattinson. Australia won by 66 runs as a result of this. A member of Afghanistan’s team for the World Twenty20 tournament, which will take place in Sri Lanka in September 2012, Naib was selected during the match.
In the match against England, he was the only Afghan batsman to score more than ten runs, and he did so with a score of 44. The English team won by 119 runs.
