Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Evin Earl Lewis is a cricket player who was born on December 27, 1991. He was a left-handed opening batsman for the West Indies during his time with the team. Through his participation in limited-overs internationals, he has become the third batter, following in the footsteps of Brendon McCullum and Chris Gayle, to achieve two hundred in Twenty20 International Matches.
Not only does Lewis have the record for the greatest retired hurt score in international cricket, which is 176 not out, but he also owns the record for the best score by a West Indian player in Twenty20 internationals, which is 125 not out. The side that won the Twenty20 World Cup in 2016 was the West Indies, and Lewis was a part of that squad. With the Comilla Victorians, he won the Bangladesh Premier League championship in 2019, and with the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots, he won the Caribbean Premier League title in 2021 during his time with the Patriots.
In addition, Lewis has played for the Caribbean Premier League club Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel, the Bangladesh Premier League teams Barisal Bulls and Dhaka Dynamites, and the Indian Premier League teams Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals. During the 2011–12 Regional Four-Day Competition, which took place in March of 2012, Lewis made his debut for Trinidad and Tobago in the first-class competition. In the latter part of the year, he participated in the Champions League Twenty20 in South Africa, where he played a single match for the squad.
During the Champions League Twenty20 tournament that took place in India in 2013, Lewis ended as the highest run-scorer for his side, with 211 runs over five innings. He also finished sixth overall. During the event, he finished with scores of 70 from 35 balls against the Titans, a South African club, and 62 from 46 balls against the Mumbai Indians in the semi-final. Lewis acquired a contract with the Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel club for the 2014 Caribbean Premier League season. He went on to score 321 runs from eight innings, which was the highest for his team and the ninth most for the league overall.

After making the transfer to the new St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots club for the 2015 season, he ended up scoring the third-most runs for his team, behind only Marlon Samuels and Martin Guptill. Later on in 2015, Lewis acquired a contract to play with the Barisal Bulls franchise in the Bangladesh Premier League, which was only beginning its first season. In one of the matches, he faced the Dhaka Dynamites, and he got 101 runs without being out from 65 balls, which was the only century of the tournament.
In the following round, Lewis played for Dhaka Dynamites and scored another century during his brief participation in the 2016 edition of the league. While playing for the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League in 2017, he opened the batting with his coach Chris Gayle for the whole of the season. These Patriots were a squad that also contained Carlos Brathwaite, the captain of the West Indies Twenty20 Cricket team.
In the players’ draft for the first-ever edition of the Global T20 Canada competition, which took place in 2018, he was chosen to play for the franchise known as the Vancouver Knights. Following the draft for the 2018–19 Bangladesh Premier League, he was selected to be a member of the Comilla Victorians team’s roster. The Comilla Victorians were able to win the 2019 Bangladesh Premier League championship by defeating the Dhaka Dynamites by a score of 17 runs. Lewis was a member of the team.
An incident that occurred during the match between the Trinbago Knight Riders and the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League in 2019 resulted in Lewis receiving a fine. The incident saw him getting into a heated dispute with the bowler Ali Khan. Ahead of the Indian Premier League auction in 2020, the Mumbai Indians decided to release him. Once again, he was selected to be a member of the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots roster for the Caribbean Premier League in July and August of 2020.

In the end, Lewis decided to join the Rajasthan Royals for the second half of the 2021 Indian Premier League season. In addition, he made a century against the Trinbago Knight Riders, which helped drive the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots to the semifinals of the Caribbean Premier League in 2021. After beating the St. Lucia Kings by three wickets in the championship match, the Patriots secured their maiden title in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) with the help of Lewis.
The Lucknow Super Giants were the ones that purchased him during the auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League competition, which took place in February of that year. In the pursuit of 210, he played a quick-fire knock of 55*(23) against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings, which resulted in Lucknow Super Giants achieving their first-ever victory in the Indian Premier League. Lewis was added to the West Indies team for the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 in March of the same year, taking the place of Lendl Simmons, who was dealing with an injury.
On March 27, 2016, he played his first Twenty20 International (T20I) match, which was against Afghanistan and took place in Nagpur. During the opening match of the series between India and the United States, which took place at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida, on August 27, 2016, Lewis achieved his maiden century in a Twenty20 International. This was just his second Twenty20 International. It was the second quickest Twenty20 International century by a West Indian, after Gayle, and the sixth fastest T20I century overall.
