In addition to being a right-handed batter, he also bowls right-arm off-break. He is an all-rounder. His first appearance for India on the international stage was in February of 2022.
“Very accurate bowler” is how his coach, Sanjiv Sawant, describes Hooda’s bowling ability. It is also well known that Hooda is a nimble fielder. On April 10, 2015, he made his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Rajasthan Royals against Punjab Kings (who were once known as Kings XI Punjab). He scored 30 runs off of 15 balls. In the second match of the Indian Premier League, which he played for Rajasthan Royals against Delhi Daredevils, he earned the man of the match after hitting his first half-century, which was 54 runs off of 25 balls.
Hooda achieved his maiden double-century in first-class cricket while playing for Baroda in the fourth round of the Ranji Trophy in the 2016–17 season. Sunrisers Hyderabad paid 4.2 crores to acquire Hooda at the Indian Premier League auction that took place in 2016. The club decided to keep him on their roster before to the 2017 auction, however, they let him go following the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League. His purchase by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2018 Indian Premier League auction took place in January of that year.

Ahead of the Indian Premier League auction in 2020, the Sunrisers Hyderabad decided to release him. Ahead of the 2020 Indian Premier League season, Kings XI Punjab are the ones that purchased him during the auction for the Indian Premier League. India’s Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Sri Lanka was scheduled to begin in November 2017, and Hooda was selected to be a part of the team. In February of 2018, Hooda was selected to be a member of India’s Twenty20 International (T20I) team for the Nidahas Trophy 2018; however, he did not participate in the tournament.
The announcement that he will be a member of India’s squad for the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup came in December of 2018. It was announced in January 2022 that Hooda would be a part of India’s One Day International (ODI) team for their series against the West Indies that would take place at home. He played his first one-day international (ODI) against the West Indies in the opening ODI of the same series. In the month that followed, he was included in India’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad, which was also for their series against the West Indies.
He was also included in India’s Twenty20 International team for their series against Sri Lanka, which took place in February of 2022. He played his first Twenty20 International match for India on February 24, 2022, against Sri Lanka. Hooda was included in India’s team for their Twenty20 International series against Ireland, which ended in June of 2022. For the first time in his Twenty20 International career, Hooda scored a century in the second encounter of the series.
176 runs was the biggest partnership for the second wicket in men’s Twenty20 Internationals, and it was also the highest partnership for any wicket for India. His combination with Sanju Samson brought in 176 runs. Given that state organizations normally field a team consisting of fifteen players, the significant number of participants on the roster has given rise to suspicion. Several district secretaries may be the target of this effort, according to those with knowledge of the situation behind the scenes.

The news that Rajasthan’s skipper Deepak Hooda would not be eligible for selection due to a “back issue” has come as a setback to the team in advance of their last Ranji Trophy 2023-24 match against Jharkhand. A left-arm seamer named Aniket Choudhary will take charge of the squad in his absence, while Manav Suthar will serve as his deputy. In preparation for the match that is slated to start on February 16 in Jamshedpur, the senior selection committee of Rajasthan has selected a roster consisting of twenty players.
Not only was this the best score in a List A chase by an Indian, but it was also the highest score by a batter from Rajasthan. The undefeated 185 that Mumbai batter Prithvi Shaw achieved was the highest score in a List-A chase by an Indian. Hooda and Karan Lamba stitched together a partnership of 255 runs to assist Rajasthan in chasing down the mark of 283 that was set by the opposition. Hooda came in to bat with the team in a precarious situation, with the team being 1 for 2 after just eight balls had been bowled in the innings.
At the end of the game, the middle-order hitter was out for 180 runs off 128 balls, which included 19 fours and five sixes. The summit match will take place on Saturday, December 16, in Rajkot. Following its victory by six wickets, Rajasthan will face Haryana, who beat Tamil Nadu in the other semifinal. Haryana will be the team that plays Rajasthan. They revitalized the Rajasthan innings after being reduced to 23 for 3 in the sixth over with a magnificent 255-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Hooda, who is attempting to return to India’s reckoning, found an able ally in Karan Lamba (73 not out off 112 balls), and the two of them rejuvenated the Rajasthan innings.
