Born on February 28, 1998, Chetan Sakariya is a cricketer who has represented India on the international stage. He has also represented the Indian cricket team, and he is presently playing for Saurashtra in the domestic cricket competition. It was in July of 2021 that he made his debut for the India cricket team on the international stage. The hamlet of Vartej, which is situated 15 kilometers away from Bhavnagar in the state of Gujarat, is where Sakariya was born and raised.
One of the veteran players on the Saurashtra squad, Sheldon Jackson, assisted him in his training and purchased a new pair of shoes for him. The opportunity to visit the MRF Pace Foundation did not present itself to Sakariya until that point. Following that, Jackson and Sakariya developed a strong friendship. By taking his own life while competing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021, Sakariya’s brother took his own life. The fact that Sakariya was so close to his brother was something that he thought about.
The Rajasthan Royals presented him with a jersey that had the initials of his late brother, with the letters ‘R.K’ written on it. In addition, the jersey has a note that reads, “Miss you bro.” inscribed on it. On the 22nd of February in 2018, Sakariya made his debut for Saurashtra in the List A competition during the 2017–18 Vijay Hazare Trophy. It was on November 20, 2018, during the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy that he made his debut for Saurashtra in the first-class competition. He took five wickets in the first innings of the match.
On February 21, 2019, he made his debut for Saurashtra in the Twenty20 competition, which was part of the 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. During the Indian Premier League auction that took place in February 2021, the Rajasthan Royals purchased Sakariya for a total of 1.2 crores just before the 2021 season of the league. In June of 2021, Sakariya was considered for inclusion in India’s One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) squads for the series that they were going to play against Sri Lanka.

The wicket of Bhanuka Rajapaksa was his first international wicket, and he concluded with stats of two wickets caught for 38 runs. He played his first Twenty20 International match for India on July 28, 2021, against Sri Lanka. During the Indian Premier League 2024, Chetan Sakariya, a young left-arm bowler, is looking to gain a lot of knowledge from Mitchell Starc, an Australian pacer, while playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
The purchase of Chetan Sakariya by KKR at the Indian Premier League 2024 auction was a significant boost to their team membership. Sakariya is looking forward to the opportunity to improve his game under the guidance of Gautam Gambhir. He views this as a significant possibility for his growth and development within the squad, and he is expecting it with great excitement. It is a wonderful chance to be in the same locker room with a wicket-taker like Mitchell Starc, who has been so successful for Australia and has taken a significant number of wickets in World Cup competitions.
In recent times, the surface at Eden Gardens, which is the home field of KKR, has shown a variety of distinct qualities. The surface has been erratic, ranging from matches with high scoring during the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League [IPL] to providing bowlers with significant help during the 2023 World Cup. Despite this, Chetan Sakariya continues to seem unconcerned by the uncertainty. He believes that he has the essential talents to prosper regardless of the obstacles that are offered by the field, and he is confident in his capacity to respond to any situations that may arise during the Indian Premier League 2024.
According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the inclusion of Chetan Sakariya on the list of seven bowlers that is referred to as “reported but not banned” seems to be an error that was made without any purpose. It was stated that the Saurashtra pacer was on the suspect action list; however, his name has now been removed from any such list. ‘Miscommunication’ and ‘mistake’ were the two factors that led to Sakariya being reported, according to the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA).

The left-arm bowler was quite forthright about his performance and believed that it was appropriate for DC to release him before to the IPL 2024 auction. He believes that DC made the correct decision. When he looked at the other Indian choices that were available to DC, such as Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar, he knew that he was at the very bottom of the pecking order among pacers. Throughout the Indian Premier League 2024 auction, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have selected Sakariya for a base price of ₹50 lakh. This selection means that Sakariya will be sharing the dressing room with Mitchell Starc, an Australian fast.
Chetan Sakariya is overjoyed that the Kolkata Knight Riders selected him in the auction because he feels there is a possibility that he would participate in a sufficient amount of games. In his explanation, the left-arm pacer emphasized the significance of playing as much as possible and said that he placed a higher focus on it than the contract amount. It has been almost six months since Chetan Sakariya suffered a stress fracture in his back. He has been rehabilitating from the injury and is nearly back to his previous level of physical fitness.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has included all of Chetan Sakariya’s bowling actions on the list of questionable bowling actions. On Friday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) notified the franchises of the Indian Premier League (IPL) that the left-arm pacer from Saurashtra is one of seven players designated by the board as a bowler with a questionable action. This is even though he is not on the banned list for bowling.
