Angelo Davis Mathews, a professional cricketer from Sri Lanka, was born on June 2, 1987. He has previously held the position of captain for the national cricket team in all formats of the game. Mathews is currently a member of the Sri Lankan team that participates in all disciplines of the game. The squad that won the ICC World Twenty20 in 2014 included him as an integral part of it. In addition, Mathews participated in the squad that advanced to the finals of the ICC World Twenty20 in 2009, the 2011 Cricket World Cup, and the 2012 tournament.
Mathews and Lasith Malinga now hold the record for the best ninth-wicket partnership when it comes to one-day international cricket. Ex-President Mahinda Rajapakse was in attendance at the wedding ceremony and reception held at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel on July 18, 2013. Their family consists of a son and a daughter. He participated in the 2017 Indian Premier League season as a cricketer for the Delhi Daredevils.

His $950,000 transfer to the Pune Warriors made him one of the Premier League’s most expensive players. In March of 2018, word spread that he had been named Kandy’s captain for the 2017–18 Super Four Provincial Tournament. His next assignment was to captain Kandy’s squad for the 2018 Super Provincial One Day Tournament. The news broke the next month. August 2018 saw the announcement of his nomination as Kandy’s squad captain for the 2018 SLC T20 League.
October 2020 saw the Colombo Kings choose him in the Lanka Premier League draught for the first season. The Colombo Stars decided to recruit him in July 2022 so that he may participate in the third season of the Lanka Premier League. Mathews started his international career in late 2008 to become a real all-rounder. However, he has since shifted his focus to his batting to reduce the amount of work he has to do and to prevent injuries. Additionally, he has prospered with the additional burden of leadership, with an average of 86.62 in 13 matches played. Mathews was generally considered to be Sri Lanka’s next limited-overs captain soon after Kumar Sangakkara resigned from his position as one-day international captain after the conclusion of the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011. On the other hand, Tillakaratne Dilshan and Mahela Jayawardene both served for brief periods after that.
