Akeal Jerome Hosein is a Trinidadian cricketer who was born on April 25, 1993. He has represented the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in addition to playing for Trinidad and Tobago in West Indian domestic cricket. Hosein was born in Trinidad and Tobago. Hosein, who was born in Port of Spain, was a member of the West Indies under-19 international team that competed in the Under-19 World Cup in Australia in 2012.
His debut for Trinidad and Tobago in the first-class competition took place during the Regional Four Day Competition in 2012–2013 when he played against Jamaica. During the following season, Hosein was named the man of the match in two consecutive matches. He took six wickets and thirty-three runs against the Windward Islands, and then he scored his first first-class century against the Leewards, reaching 102 runs without being out.
After that, he signed a contract with the Barbados Tridents to play in the Caribbean Premier League in 2014. The announcement of his inclusion in Trinidad and Tobago’s roster for the 2019–20 Regional Super50 event came in November of 2019. Sunrisers Hyderabad purchased him on December 23, 2022, for the Indian Premier League 2023. They let him go in November of 2023 after he had only played with them for one season. The Quetta Gladiators, who were competing in the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League, signed Hosein in 2023 to play for them. By dismissing Aamer Jamal, Mehran Mumtaz, and Luke Wood in three successive deliveries, Hosein became just the sixth bowler in the Pakistan Super League to achieve a hat-trick. The West Indies selected Hosein to be a member of their One Day International (ODI) squad for the series that they were going to play against Bangladesh in December 2020. Against Bangladesh on January 20, 2021, he made his first appearance for the West Indies in a One-Day International. During February in the year 2021, he was considered for inclusion in the Twenty20 International (T20I) squad of the West Indies for their series against Sri Lanka. Throughout the 2020–21 season, the Cricket West Indies awarded Akeal a white-ball central contract in May 2021.
Additionally, he was one of the ten players who were awarded a white-ball central contract for the upcoming 2020–21 season. His inclusion in the Twenty20 International (T20I) squad of the West Indies for their series against South Africa took place in June of 2021.
