In the sport of domestic cricket, he is now the captain of the San Francisco Unicorns of Major League Cricket, where he plays for the team. Within the Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) competition, Finch is now the holder of the record for two of the three highest individual scores.
The previous record he had was 156, which he achieved against England in 2013. His score of 172 against Zimbabwe in July 2018 surpassed that level. Finch was a member of the Australian squad that triumphed in the Cricket World Cup in 2015. Six years later, as Australia’s captain, Finch also led Australia to victory at the 2021 ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup, which was the first time that the nation had ever won a T20 World Cup. In July 2018, he made history by being the first player to earn 900 rating points on the official Twenty20 International (ICC) rankings.
His first appearance for Australia in a test match was in October of 2018. Additionally, he works as a pundit for Fox Cricket and Triple M on a part-time basis. When Finch was a youngster, he was a wicket-keeper for the Colac West Cricket Club, which was a member of the Colac & District Cricket Association (CDCA). For the Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka in 2006, he participated as a right-handed batsman.
By the time the 2009–10 season rolled around, Finch had the chance to establish himself as a regular member of the Victorian team. At the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), there was a partnership of 212 runs for the third wicket between him and David Hussey. This partnership resulted in his scoring his first-ever century in first-class cricket against Tasmania. In October of 2012, he stepped in as captain and hit 154 runs at the Gabba against Queensland. This total set a new record for Victoria in domestic one-day cricket, making it the highest score ever recorded by Victoria.
