He was one of the most successful bowlers of the tournament, and he was highly commended for his performance.
In the Sunfoil 3-Day Cup event, which took place on March 3, 2016, he made his debut for Northerns in the first-class competition. In March of 2021, he was selected to be a member of Namibia’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the series against Uganda. In the 35 kilometers that separate the coastal communities of Walvis Bay and Swakopmund in Namibia, there are many dunes, one of which is the seventh biggest in the world and is aptly called Dune 7. Additionally, around 100,000 people are living on this stretch of land. Michael van Lingen is the only one of them who has ever played cricket at the international level, and he is now so well-known in the region that he is easily identifiable. The residence of van Lingen, who is 26 years old, is significant because, even though Namibia is a massive country with a total area of more than 800,000 square kilometers, the country’s population of little more than 2.5 million people is very low.

Almost everything of consequence that takes place in the nation takes place in Windhoek, which is located 400 kilometers east of Walvis Bay. This includes the majority of the most elite sports, and it is quite uncommon to see someone who still lives in what might be considered the wilderness participating in something as high-profile as cricket has become. He relocated to the Western Cape of South Africa with his family when he was in his second year of high school. There, he attended Paarl Boys, which is considered to be one of the most prestigious athletic institutions in the country. Among the graduates of Paarl Boys is Dawid Malan, who is now playing for England.
During the first match of the Tri-Series, which took place at TU Cricket Ground, Namibia was able to achieve a respectable total against Nepal because of the consecutive century that Michael van Lingen scored against Nepal. After fifty overs, Namibia had scored 285 runs thanks to Lingen’s career-high score of 133 and Zane Green’s thrilling cameo at the end of the innings. The Eagles were 45/2 in the 11th over when Sandeep Lamichhane knocked out Karl Birkenstock in his second delivery following the comeback. Sompal Kami had removed Louwrens in the third over, and Sandeep Lamichhane had knocked off Birkenstock with his second ball.
After that, Gerhard Erasmus and Michael van Lingen collaborated in a significant way to improve the inning that the visitors were playing. Kushal Malla made the breakthrough by dismissing Erasmus for 56 runs, which resulted in the pair adding 124 runs for the third wicket. On the other side, Van Lingen achieved his greatest score in a one-day international, exceeding his previous best score of 121, which he achieved against Nepal itself.
Following the dismissal of the southpaw by Rohit Paudel at the age of 55, Sompal Kami made a mistake in his judgment on his catch at long-on. That resulted in a six when he was batting at 75. There were nine fours and five sixes hit by Lingen throughout his inning, which consisted of 137 balls. At the very end, Zane Green hit a 34-ball score with four boundaries and one maximum. He did this with 19 balls. Additionally, Ruben Trumpelmann scored 11 runs of his own off of four balls.

The five-wicket haul that Karan Kc, often known as Valentine’s kid, took for Nepal was a significant accomplishment. In one-day internationals, this is his second five-for for Nepal. After Karnataka took the lead in the first match of the trip by a score of 1-0, Namibia equalized the score in the second match with a five-wicket victory owing to a century by Michael van Lingen, which assisted them in chasing down a massive total of 360. Karnataka is now facing tough competition.
Alongside Nikin Jose, who led Karnataka to a significant score by hitting hundreds, the young wicketkeeper-batter LR Chethan was a shining example of his abilities in the first inning. A power-packed effort by Nikolas Davin and Gerhard Erasmus, the captain of Namibia, allowed the team to make a comeback throughout the chase, and they crossed the finish line in the last over of the last over.
