In addition to playing as an all-rounder for New Zealand in international cricket, Corey James Anderson is a New Zealand-American cricketer who has also played for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, and Northern Districts in New Zealand first-class cricket. Anderson was born on December 13, 1990. When he stated his decision to play for the United States cricket team in 2022, he had already announced his intention to retire from the New Zealand squad in 2020. His current squad is the United States of America’s international cricket team.
As a member of the Hobart Hurricanes, he became a member of the Big Bash League in the 2023–24 season. In addition, he was a member of the New Zealand team that competed in the 2015 Cricket World Cup and ended up finishing in second place. The day that Anderson became famous was January 1, 2014, when he achieved the record for the quickest century ever scored in the history of One Day International cricket. During his match against West Indies, he beat Shahid Afridi’s previous record of 37 deliveries to score his hundred. He did it in only 36 balls.
With 14 sixes and six fours, Anderson concluded the innings with a score of 131, which was undefeated, and he did it in 47 balls. After thereafter, in 2015, AB de Villiers smashed this record by scoring a century against the West Indies off only 31 deliveries. This remarkable feat was accomplished by de Villiers. Anderson was thrust into the Canterbury Wizards squad for the 2006–2007 season, having just been promoted as a result of his outstanding performance for the New Zealand under-19 cricket team.
In addition, he was a member of the first XI squad at Christchurch Boys’ High School, where he played for his high school. During his time there, the team won three Gillette Cups in a row, from 2005 to 2007.
Additionally, Anderson was awarded the title of player of the Gillette Cup in 2006, a distinction that he shared with Tim Southee, who is now playing with the Blackcaps. For the first time in the history of New Zealand first-class cricket, Anderson became the youngest player to ever acquire a contract with New Zealand Cricket. This accomplishment occurred in the year 2007.

Anderson had not yet shown his full ability at the first-class level. Following several injuries that disrupted his seasons, including shoulder and groin ailments, Corey Anderson decided to switch to Northern Districts at the beginning of the 2011/12 season to relaunch his promising career. Following his selection for the Twenty20 International and One-Day International squads for the 2012–2013 tour of South Africa, Anderson made his debut for New Zealand on December 21, 2012, when he played in a Twenty20 international match against South Africa.
It was on June 16, 2013, in Cardiff, that he made his first appearance in a One-Day International match. He was a member of New Zealand’s One-Day International team for the Champions Trophy in 2013. Anderson smashed the record for the quickest one-day international hundred by one ball on January 1, 2014, at the Queenstown Events Centre. Shahid Afridi had held the record for the previous 17 years. Anderson scored his hundred in 36 balls. He finished with a score of 131, which included 14 sixes and six fours, and he was undefeated throughout the innings.
It was with the assistance of Jesse Ryder that New Zealand was able to establish a new team record for the most sixes scored in an ODI innings. In a match against West Indies on January 18, 2015, AB de Villiers smashed his record by reaching a hundred runs in only 31 balls. On July 9, 2013, Anderson made his debut in a test match against Bangladesh. He scored one and eight with the bat during the match. Within the span of 19 overs, he was able to take two wickets with the ball. It was in his second test match that Anderson scored his first century in a test match. He was successful in taking one wicket and scoring 116 runs off of 173 balls.
In May of 2018, New Zealand Cricket renewed the contracts of twenty players, including Anderson, for the 2018–19 season. Anderson was one of the players who received a new contract. On the other hand, he announced in October 2018 that he would be putting long-form cricket on pause to focus on limited forms. In December of 2020, he resigned from his National Cricket Team. After reaching the age of eligibility in 2023, Anderson was able to compete for the United States in international cricket matches. In March of 2024, he was selected to play for the United States of America in their national series versus Canada.

On the 12th of April, he made his debut in the fourth Twenty20 International, and he ended up scoring 28 runs off of 29 deliveries. During the last encounter of the series, Anderson earned his maiden half-century in Twenty20 Internationals for the United States. He did it by scoring 55 runs off of 48 balls. Anderson won his first Man of the Match award on May 3, 2014, while he was playing against Kings XI Punjab. During that match, he was responsible for taking the wicket of Cheteshwar Pujara and scoring 35 runs off of 25 balls.
While the Mumbai Indians were attempting to chase the total of 190 in just 14.3 overs to qualify for the playoffs with a superior net run rate, Anderson took his club, the Mumbai Indians, through to the play-offs by hitting an unbeaten 95 off only 44 balls on May 25, 2014. This allowed the Mumbai Indians to pass the Rajasthan Royals and go to the next round. Throughout the 2017 Indian Premier League season, the Delhi Daredevils club paid one crore to acquire his services in February of that year.
