It was on June 1, 1997, that Joshua Ryan Philippe, an Australian cricketer, was born. He is a wicket-keeper batsman and plays for the Australian team. It was in February of 2021 that he made his debut for the Australian cricket team on the international stage. His father has played for Western Australia 2nd XI and coached Western Fury, while his mother has represented Western Australia in the 1980s. He was born into a family that has a history of cricketing.
At the beginning of the 2017–18 Big Bash League season, on December 23, 2017, Philippe made his debut in the Twenty20 format for the Perth Scorchers against the Sydney Sixers. Before making his Twenty20 debut, he opened the batting against England in a warm-up match for a Western Australia XI. In that match, he made 88 runs off 92 balls. This particular match took place before the Ashes series of 2017–2018.
While playing for Western Australia in the 2017–18 Sheffield Shield season, Philippe made his first-class debut in February 2018. He then went on to make his List A debut for the team in the 2018–19 JLT One-Day Cup, which took place in September of 2018. He was the top-scorer of the match with 57, and he made four dismissals and did not allow any byes throughout the South African innings. As a result, he was awarded the Player of the Match award when the Prime Minister’s XI defeated the visiting South Africans on October 31, 2018.
During July in the year 2020, Philippe was selected to be a part of a preliminary team consisting of 26 players. This group was formed in preparation for a probable visit to England after the COVID-19 epidemic. Since August, Cricket Australia has announced that the fixtures would be taking place. Philippe was a member of the visiting group, but he did not participate in any of the matches during the series.

Philippe participated in the Indian Premier League in 2020, when he scored 78 runs in five innings for Royal Challengers Bangalore, the team that purchased him in the auction for the 2020 Indian Premier League. Even though he was retained for the 2021 season, he withdrew from the competition before it began for reasons that were personal to him. Philippe was selected to be a member of Australia’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the series that they were going to play against New Zealand in January 2021.
On February 22, 2021, he made his debut for Australia in a Twenty20 International match against New Zealand. It was announced in June 2021 that Philippe will be a part of Australia’s limited overs team for their upcoming trips to Bangladesh and the West Indies. In the One-Day International (ODI) match that took place on July 20, 2021, Philippe made his debut for Australia against the West Indies country. In the first match of the 2021–22 Marsh One-Day Cup, which took place in September 2021, Philippe achieved his maiden century in List A cricket by scoring 137 runs against South Australia.
As part of a pair of big domestic acquisitions, Josh Philippe has relocated from Western Australia to New South Wales to rekindle his Sheffield Shield career. Nic Maddinson, on the other hand, has returned to the state in which he started his career. In the wake of Philippe’s successful transition to the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League in 2019, the possibility of him moving to New South Wales has been a topic of discussion for quite some time.
But in the past, he had decided to remain in Western Australia to play Shield and Marsh Cup cricket, even though Josh Inglis was the No. 1 keeper. This was because Inglis’ frequent absences due to international duty provided Phillipe with plenty of opportunities to keep in all formats. He has finally made the move to the East even though he has played for Western Australia in two Shield championships and three Marsh Cups throughout the last three seasons. In addition, he has played for Australia A in four-day cricket as a wicketkeeper. His Shield career has come to a halt significantly.

While all is going on, Maddinson is making his way back to New South Wales from Victoria. He had a successful conclusion to the 2023-24 Shield season, during which he struck three centuries in a row after recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury. The New South Wales top order might potentially gain a substantial amount of strength as a result of his departure. Following his dismissal from the Melbourne Renegades during the Big Bash League, when he was serving as captain, he had a rise in his red ball. In addition, it is believed that he will be transferring to the Sydney Thunder position.
In 2010, Maddinson, who is now 32 years old, made his debut for the Blues in the Sheffield Shield. In that match, he scored a century against South Australia. After that, he participated in three Test matches and six Twenty20 Internationals before falling further and farther down the batting prospects list for Australia. Joel Curtis, a wicketkeeper who was not under contract, took over for Philippe in the Western Australia team for the penultimate Shield round before the break in the Big Bash League in late November. This occurred when Inglis was away with Australia’s Twenty20 International team.
An instant call-up to Australia’s Twenty20 International team to participate in the five-match series against India that would take place in India at the beginning of December helped to mitigate the impact of that dismissal. Once the Big Bash League was over, he was brought back for the first Shield round, and he scored an undefeated half-century against New South Wales in Perth. On the other hand, it was the only Shield half-century he had scored in his past 27 innings, which began in December 2021. During that span, he had an average of 14.44.
