The English cricketer Dawid Johannes Malan Jnr was born on September 3, 1987. He is a member of the England national team and competes internationally for England in all forms. After having previously played for Middlesex, he now plays for Yorkshire in domestic cricket. He has also participated in several Twenty20 competitions, including playing for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League when he was playing for Middlesex.
In 2017, Malan made his debut in each of the Twenty20 International (T20I) and Test formats, and in 2019, he made his debut in the One Day International (ODI) format. His rating in the ICC Men’s Player Rankings reached 915 in the year 2020, which continues to be the standard for the highest rating in the format. During the 2022 Twenty20 World Cup, he was a member of the England side that triumphed. A left-handed top-order hitter and an occasional leg-break bowler, Malan is a member of the English cricket team. In Twenty20 Internationals, he is one of just four Englishmen to score a century.
His father, Dawid Malan Sr., was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast-medium bowler who played for Teddington, Western Province B, and Northern Transvaal B. He also represented Teddington. Charl Malan, his brother, was also a first-class cricket player for Loughborough MCCU, and Liné Malan, his sister, was a field hockey player for South Africa who competed internationally. The left-handed batsman and occasional leg-spin bowler Malan was first a member of the Boland team in South Africa during the 2005/2006 season. In 2006, he was also a member of the MCC Young Cricketers.
On July 7, 2006, he became a member of Middlesex, and on the same day, he made his debut with the first XI playing in a Twenty20 Cup match against Surrey at The Oval. As of 2007, Malan has scored 969 runs at a rate of 51.00, making him the leading run scorer in the Second XI Championship. In June 2008, he made his debut for Middlesex in the first-class competition, making 132 runs without being out. Malan scored 103 runs off of 54 balls in the quarterfinal match against the Lancashire Lightning on July 8, 2008, making it the 24th century in the history of the Twenty20 Cup.

Because of this, he became the first player in the history of Twenty20 to score a century while batting at number six, and up until July 2018, he was the holder of the record for the greatest score at that position.
From 2013 to 2015, Malan was a member of Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club, which competed in the Dhaka Premier League of Bangladesh. During that time, he was a member of the List-A domestic cricket team, and he contributed with both the bat and the ball.
The appointment of Malan as Middlesex captain across all three forms occurred before the beginning of the 2018 season. After the conclusion of the 2019 season, he resigned from his position, and in November of the same year, he signed a four-year deal to begin playing with Yorkshire beginning with the 2020 season. Malan achieved his first double century in first-class cricket in August of 2020, during the third round of matches in the Bob Willis Trophy. He scored 219 runs, making it his first double-century in the sport.
The Twenty20 International (T20I) squad that England would field against South Africa in their home series in June 2017 included Malan as a member of the team. Malan was determined to be the “man of the match” for his batting performance in his first encounter, which took place on June 25, 2017, and England won the match. He scored 78 runs on his debut. He made his debut in a test match on July 27, 2017, as the number five batsman for England. He was included in England’s Test team before the third test match, which was played against South Africa.
During the first innings, he hit one run before being bowled out by a yorker from Kagiso Rabada. During the second inning, he was out for ten runs. The fact that he did not do well in his second test also raises concerns about his performance in future tests. Despite this, Malan was able to maintain his position for the series against the West Indies and got his first fifty in a test match, which contributed to England’s victory in their first day-night test match.

During the third Ashes Test match, which took place at the WACA in December 2017, Malan got his maiden Test century. His hundred was the first century of the series for the England squad. Malan was picked for the winter tours to Australia and New Zealand. Malan maintained his outstanding run in T20Is on the tour, adding another three half-centuries in the four games he played in the Trans-Tasman Tri-Series, albeit this was not enough to see him preserve his spot in the side once rested players were back during the following English summer.
Although he was able to keep his spot for the two tests that were played against Pakistan and the first test that was played against India during that summer, he was eventually discarded due to a poor run of form. Following the addition of Malan to England’s One Day International (ODI) squad, the team will play Ireland in a one-off match on May 3, 2019. In his first one-day international play for England, he scored 24 runs. This was a match in which a lot of England’s World Cup team members were absent due to rest.
Following his comeback to the Twenty20 International team for the trip to New Zealand, Malan struck his maiden century on November 8, 2019, during the fourth Twenty20 International match. This was the second-quickest score by an England batsman, coming from only 48 balls. It was also the second-fastest score. As a result of his efforts, he was able to move up to the top spot in the ICC Twenty20 International batter rankings in September 2020. He participated in all six Twenty20 Internationals that England played against Pakistan and Australia during the summer of 2020.
