Born on October 11, 1987, Nathan Mitchell Coulter-Nile is a cricketer from Australia who has represented the Australian national team in both One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International competitions. He has played for the Australian national team. About the domestic market, he is under contract with both the Melbourne Stars and Western Australia. Coulter-Nile, who is from Perth, Western Australia, attended Aquinas College. During his time there, he was a member of the state’s under-17 and under-19 teams. Subsequently, he went on to participate in three junior one-day international matches for the Australian national under-19 squad.
He made his debut at the state level during the 2009–10 season, and since then, he has been a regular selection in the fast bowling attacks of both Western Australia and the Perth Scorchers. He had previously had a rookie contract with the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) for several seasons. Additionally, he played in the third grade. The next year, he made his debut in the first-grade competition and finished with 18 wickets at an average of 25.72 from the 10 matches he played in the first-grade competition.
This featured his first five-wicket haul in the league, which he achieved against Joondalup with performance figures of 5/56. Coulter-Nile, who was a member of the Dennis Lillee Fast Bowling Academy, was chosen to play for the Australian national under-19 side in three under-19 One Day International (ODI) matches against the Pakistan under-19s in April of 2007. Following a season in which he took 30 wickets for Fremantle and also participated in a solitary Cricket Australia Cup match for the state’s second XI squad, he went on to play for Fremantle. During the first season of the franchise-based Big Bash League, which took over as the domestic Twenty20 tournament in Australia from the state-based KFC Twenty20 Big Bash, Coulter-Nile was a part of the 15-man roster that the Perth Scorchers fielded for the Big Bash League.
Ryan Duffield, Ben Edmondson, Joe Mennie, and Nathan Rimmington were among the other fast bowlers on the team, along with all-rounders Paul Collingwood and Mitchell Marsh. The team’s composition was very similar to that of Western Australia. As a result of worries over an injured shoulder, Coulter-Nile did not play for the Scorchers in their first two matches. However, he made his debut for Perth in the Scorchers’ third match, which was played against the Brisbane Heat at the WACA Ground in late December 2011.
Following that, he participated in each of the remaining six matches for the squad, including the semi-final match against the Melbourne Stars as well as the final match against the Sydney Sixers! Following Ben Edmondson (14 wickets) and Brad Hogg (13 wickets), Coulter-Nile concluded the season with 10 wickets at an average of 17.40. This placed him in third place in Perth’s position for the most wickets taken. When he bowled against the Sydney Thunder at ANZ Stadium in the middle of January 2012, he achieved his best bowling stats, which were 3/9 from three overs. The Thunder’s total of 99 all-outs earned him the title of man of the match, and he was also responsible for two runouts during that time.
In July 2012, Coulter-Nile re-signed with the Perth Scorchers for the Big Bash League season of 2012–2013. In addition, he participated in all three of the team’s matches in the Champions League Twenty20 in 2012, which took place during the offseason for the Big Bash League. Tim Armstrong, Jason Behrendorff, Hilton Cartwright, and Alfonso Thomas were selected to replace Duffield (not contracted), Marsh (injured), and Rimmington (Melbourne Renegades) as members of Perth’s bowling attack for the 2012–13 season. This was a small departure from the roster that was used for the previous season.

As a result of the fact that Lachlan Stevens had been replaced as coach by Justin Langer before the beginning of the season, Coulter-Nile started to become used in a new capacity. In his 10 matches, he bowled three or four overs, and he was often the first change behind Thomas and spinner Michael Beer. He got ten wickets at an average of 27.60, but he also played as a top-order batsman the majority of the time. Given that he only managed to score 61 runs throughout eight innings, this was not altogether a successful endeavor.
Coulter-Nile, on the other hand, scored 23 runs without being out from only six balls during a match against Brisbane that took place at the Gabba in the middle of December 2012. This included 20 runs off four balls in Dan Christian’s penultimate over with the ball. Even though rain made it necessary to use the Duckworth–Lewis system, Perth had already scored 51 runs from five overs. Even though he let 39 runs be scored within his three overs during Brisbane’s innings, Coulter-Nile was awarded the title of Man of the Match for his effort.
The Mumbai Indians paid a total of $450,000 to acquire the services of Coulter-Nile at the player auction that took place before the 2013 season of the Indian Premier League. Even though his reserve price had been set at $100,000, Mumbai and the Rajasthan Royals, which are controlled by Nita Ambani and Shilpa Shetty, respectively, engaged in a bidding war that ultimately resulted in his price being lifted to its final value.
