KM Asif, commonly known as Mohammed Asif, is a cricketer from India who was born on July 24, 1993. He currently plays for Kerala in the Indian domestic cricket league and Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He bats with his right hand and bowls with his right arm, and he is a fast-medium pacer. When Asif was growing up, his mother was a housewife, and his father was a daily gambler.
His younger brother has an intellectual disability, and his younger sister has difficulties as a result of brain damage that she sustained while she was still going through her formative years. Biju George has served as a guide and mentor to him. He had a position as a storekeeper in Dubai in the year 2016. However, he quickly went back to his hometown to participate in a fast-bowling competition that was all across India. Also, he went to the ICC Academy to participate in open tryouts for the United Arab Emirates national team, but he was not selected.
Asif has not participated in any age-group cricket matches for Kerala in any capacity. During the 2017–18 Zonal T20 League, which took place on January 12, 2018, he made his debut for Kerala in the Twenty20 format. In the tournament, he took five wickets from two matches, making him the joint-highest wicket-taker for Kerala. On February 9, 2018, he made his debut for Kerala in the List A competition that was part of the 2017–18 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
In August of 2018, he was one of five players who were punished for three games under the Vijay Hazare Trophy for the 2018–19 season. This was because he had shown disapproval of Sachin Baby, the captain of Kerala. In the 2019-20 Vijay Hazare Trophy, he ended with 14 wickets from seven matches, which was good enough to earn him the joint-highest wicket-taking total for Kerala. It was on December 9, 2019, during the 2019–20 Ranji Trophy that he made his debut for Kerala in the first-class competition.

The Chennai Super Kings bid for him at the 2018 Indian Premier League auction in January of that year. Following Deepak Chahar’s injury, he made his debut in the Indian Premier League during that season against the Delhi Daredevils. Within the context of the auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League competition, he was once again acquired by the Chennai Super Kings in February 2022. The Rajasthan Royals paid INR 30 lakh to acquire him at the auction that took place in 2023.
During the present Indian Premier League in the United Arab Emirates, the CEO of Chennai Super Kings, Kasi Viswanathan, has refuted the idea that their player, KM Asif, accidentally opened a bio-secure bubble. Asif, who had misplaced the key to his hotel room, reportedly went to the reception desk to get a new key that did not belong to the bio-secure category. During the 2020 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the fast bowler for the Chennai Super Kings, KM Asif, made history by being the first player to break through the bio-secure bubble.
Following that, the right-arm speedster was placed in quarantine for six days, and he is now going back to training with the squad. As it turned out, the security breach occurred as a result of Asif losing the key to his hotel room. Following the occurrence, he proceeded to the reception to get a replacement, which turned out to be a violation of the regulations since the reception did not fall inside the confines of CSK’s bubble.
So far in the Indian Premier League, the Super Kings have not had the most successful of seasons. MS Dhoni was the captain of the squad, and they began the tournament with a victory against the Mumbai Indians (MI) by a score of five wickets. The match took place at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Both Ambati Rayudu and Faf du Plessis scored fifty runs, which was the winning score for them. Despite this, the Yellow Army found themselves at the bottom of the points table after suffering defeats at the hands of the Delhi Capitals (DC) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR).

The fact that Rayudu and Dwayne Bravo, an all-rounder for the West Indies, are both experiencing injuries has not helped their cause in any way. Asif came to Dubai for the very first time about four years ago. He was in desperate need of employment. In the past, his father worked as a laborer, while his mother was a housewife. Furthermore, his sister’s brain tumor necessitated surgical intervention, and his brother has a mental disability. Every single one of them resided in a home that, if it rained, would leak. In Kerala, it was raining rather often.
He was referring to K. M. Asif, who had been acquired by Chennai Super Kings for a sum of forty lakh rupees on Sunday, even though he had not yet made his debut in the First Class. He had suddenly found himself in the spotlight. And for the young man, who hails from Edavanna, a hamlet in the Malappuram district, it is a true tale of rags to riches. He is 24 years old. Additionally, the right-arm bowler expresses his gratitude to Sanju Samson, an explosive batter who was just acquired by Rajasthan Royals for a reported sum of Rs. 8 crore.
