In limited-overs cricket, Adam Zampa, who was born on March 31, 1992, is a cricketer who represents Australia on the international stage. Zampa is an Australian international cricketer. The Australian sides that triumphed in the 2023 Cricket World Cup and the 2021 Twenty20 World Cup both had Zampa as a part of their squads. Zampa bowled at a medium speed when he was younger; however, Cricket Australia had put limitations on the number of overs that pace bowlers were permitted to bowl in contests including under-14 players.
The Australian cricketer Shane Warne served as a source of inspiration. Zampa broke into the Australian under-19 squad in 2009 and went on to secure a rookie contract with the Blues in 2010. He was able to contribute to Australia’s triumph in the 2010 Under-19 Cricket World Cup by playing a part in the team’s campaign. There were two youth Test matches and eight youth one-day internationals that Zampa participated in, and he took 11 wickets across the two formats.
Following the conclusion of the season, he decided to accept an invitation to play for South Australia, which included participation in first-class and one-day matches, as well as for South Australia’s Twenty20 squad, the Adelaide Strikers. Because South Australia had just suffered the loss of their Test spinner Nathan Lyon to New South Wales, he was enticed by the fact that he would be given guaranteed starts in the squad. After spending three months training at the Centre of Excellence over the winter of 2013, he eventually joined the South Australian side for the 2013–14 season.
Zampa’s career was able to advance thanks to his relocation to South Australia, where he had the chance to collaborate with Johan Botha, an experienced South African spinner who was the captain of the South Australian team at the time of his arrival. This move proved to be beneficial for Zampa’s career trajectory.
Despite South Australia’s defeat at the hands of Western Australia, Zampa had an outstanding performance in the 2014–15 Matador BBQs One-Day Cup. He scored a hat-trick and finished with all-around numbers of 4/18.

Zampa signed a contract with the Redbacks in 2015 for two more seasons. However, to get more experience, he switched Twenty20 teams to the Melbourne talents. With the Melbourne Stars, he would have the chance to play with international talents like Michael Clarke and Kevin Pietersen. To that point in his career, Zampa’s summer of 2015–2016 was the most successful of his whole career.
The year 2016 saw him be named in Australia’s squad for both One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals, but he struggled in first-class cricket. He was a standout in both Twenty20 cricket and List A cricket, and he was also chosen for the team for Twenty20 Internationals. His performance against Cricket Australia XI in the 2015–16 Matador BBQs One-Day Cup resulted in four wickets and forty-eight runs, which contributed to South Australia’s advancement to the elimination final of the competition. He was part of an extraordinary dismissal that occurred in BBL|05, in which he attempted to run out Peter Nevill with his nose.
Through the second match of the 2015–16 Chappell–Hadlee Trophy series, he made his debut in one-day internationals on February 6, 2016. It was on March 4, 2016, that he made his debut for Australia in the Twenty20 International vs South Africa competition. Zampa eventually became a regular part of the One-Day International (ODI) team as well as the Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for Australia. At the time of Zampa’s first Twenty20 International match for Australia, which took place in South Africa, he was already a member of Australia’s team for the World Twenty20 in 2016.
He was Australia’s best wicket-taker with five wickets at an average of 13.80 and an economy rate of 6.27, including a breakthrough effort against Bangladesh with figures of 3/23. This was even though he had just recently been introduced to the team. When Zampa was playing for Australia’s national team, he also began to participate in Twenty20 franchises as a player from outside of Australia.

He grabbed six wickets for 19 runs while playing for Rising Pune Supergiant in the Indian Premier League against Sunrisers Hyderabad. His performance led to him being listed as the third greatest bowling performance in the history of the IPL, behind only Sohail Tanvir’s six wickets for fourteen runs and Alzarri Joseph’s six wickets for twelve runs. During the eighth over of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s innings, Zampa delivered his first over for the match. However, he was removed from the attack shortly thereafter without being able to successfully capture a wicket.
Not until the sixteenth over, when he had already taken one wicket, was he brought back into the game. As a result of Captain MS Dhoni’s decision to give him a lengthier period following his wicket, he was able to take two wickets in the 18th over and three more wickets in the 20th over, taking his tally to six wickets. The effort he put in earned him the title of man of the match, and it also set a new record for the greatest bowling numbers ever recorded by a bowler in the history of Twenty20 competition while he was playing for a losing team.
Additionally, Zampa was a member of the Guyana Amazon Warriors, who competed in the Caribbean Premier League. During his time with the team, he amassed 15 wickets at an average of 18.46, making him the spin bowler with the most wickets of any player in the competition. The decision to remove Zampa from Australia’s Twenty20 team for the second round in a three-match series against Sri Lanka in 2016–17 came as a surprise. Zampa had performed well in the first match of the series and had taken two wickets.
