Pat Cummins was forced to miss the whole summer of 2011–12 due to a heel injury that he sustained just after making his test debut. This injury caused Cummins to miss the entire season. In the tentative roster for the ICC Under-19 World Cup, which was held in Queensland in August 2012, Pat Cummins was selected as the player to represent Australia. Following his participation for Australia in the Twenty20 World Cup in 2012 and the Sydney Sixers in the Champions League in 2012, Cummins sustained a stress fracture in his back upon his return to Australia in November. As a result, he was unable to take part in the home summer of 2012/13.
Due to a stress fracture that flared up once again, Cummins was unable to participate in any of the remaining summer games of the 2013–14 season after playing for Australia once more in August of 2013. In January 2014, he brought his comeback to the BBL, where he worked with Dennis. Throughout his sabbatical, he worked with Dennis Lillee to alter his bowling motion, and he made his comeback to the Big Bash League in January 2014.
After shifting his attention to white-ball cricket in 2014, Cummins participated in four matches for Australia during their victorious World Cup campaign in 2015. The inclusion of Cummins to the 2015 Ashes squad came at the eleventh hour, after the retirement of Ryan Harris; nevertheless, he was not selected for a test throughout the Championship. During the same trip, he participated in both the One-Day International and Twenty20 International series.
There was a recurrence of Cummins’ stress fracture during the one-day international leg of the tour, and as a result, he needed to miss the whole of the home summer for the fourth time in the last five years. Pat Cummins started his career as a young cricket player at the Glenbrook Cricket Club for the first time. 2010 was the year that he made his debut in first-class cricket, playing for Penrith. Because he became the leading wicket-taker in the Twenty20 Big Bash League in the 2010–11 season, his domestic career reached its pinnacle during that particular year.
