Having been born on the 21st of February in 1994, Reece James William Topley is a cricketer who represents England in white ball cricket. He is a left-arm fast-medium bowler and plays for the England cricket team. In domestic cricket, he is a member of the Surrey team. In August 2015, Topley made his debut for England in a match against Australia. He went on to represent the nation in the ICC World Twenty20 Championship in 2016 as well as the Cricket World Cup in 2023.
Within the Indian Premier League, he is a member of the Royal Challengers Bangalore basketball team. When Topley was 15 years old while bowling in the nets at Loughborough University in June 2009, he suffered an injury while bowling to England batsman Kevin Pietersen. This incident made news when it occurred. A delivery that was flat-driven by Pietersen ended up hitting Topley on the side of the head, which caused him to fall to the ground.
Following his arrival at Leicester Royal Infirmary, he was forced to have sutures placed in his ear and remained in the hospital for the whole night. In the aftermath of the event, Pietersen, who Topley referred to as his favorite player, presented the boy with his cricket bat, which included his autograph. Through his participation in the Essex junior cricket program, Topley was able to make his debut for Essex in the first-class competition against Cambridge MCCU during the 2011 season.

During the same month, Topley made his debut in the List A competition against the Unicorns in the Clydesdale Bank 40. He took his first wicket in that format, which was Robin Lett, and he earned his first wicket in that format. Topley took a break from playing county cricket in the middle of the season too return to Royal Hospital School and study for his summer examinations. However, when he was on holiday, he received a call inviting him to participate in the Youth One Day International series that England Under-19s were playing versus South Africa Under-19s.
As of the present moment, he has participated in a total of nine first-class matches and twList-A A matches for Essex since his comeback to action in August. To this point in his first-class career, he has taken 34 wickets at an average of 23.55, which is a respectable start to his career. The beginning of his career has garnered acclaim from Michael Vaughan, who was the previous captain of England. Vaughan remarked that Topley has the potential to become a future Test cricket member.
The Hampshire County Cricket Club announced on September 1, 201,5 that they have signed Topley from Essex for the next season, which would conclude on September 1, 2015. Once again suffering from a stress fracture, Topley had to have back surgery after the 2018 sporting season. Chennai Super Kings approached him with an offer to fill the void left by Josh Hazlewood’s injury during the Indian Premier League 2021 season. The Oval Invincibles selected him in the draft for the first season of The Hundred in the year 2021. Following the players’ draft for the 2022 Pakistan Super League, Islamabad United signed him in December of 2021. This was after the conclusion of the draft. It was in April of 2022 that the Oval Invincibles made the purchase of his services for the 2022 season of The Hundred. During the Indian Premier League auction that took place on December 23, 2022, Royal Challengers Bangalore paid INR 1.90 Crore to acquire his services for the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League.

Due to a shoulder injury that he got in the opening game of the 2023 season, which was against Mumbai Indians, he was unable to participate in any of the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League. For the one-day international series against Pakistan, he continued to be a member of the team and participated in all four matches. During the first match, he took his maiden wickets for England in an international match and ended with numbers of 3-26. However, his performance was not sufficient to prevent England from losing the match.
He had succeeded in taking one wicket in each of the subsequent three matches, and England had emerged victorious in each of those contests. During the inaugural Twenty20 international match between the two teams, he participated and ended with numbers of 3-24 while playing. At the same time as he continued to play every game in the series, he continued to play for the one-day international team during the trip to South Africa. This was England’s first game, and they won by 39 runs using the DL Method. He had stats of 1–43 in that game.
In the following match, he recorded statistics of 4–50, which helped England in achieving consecutive victories. Topley had a strong performance, achieving scores of 2–39 in the fourth match of the series and 3–41 in the last match, which South Africa won by five wickets. Despite this, England went on to lose the following three games of the series. Even though he participated in both Twenty20 internationals, he did not manage to grab a wicket in either of the matches.
