The Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell is a fantastic fielder, a good bowler, and an explosive batter. He is also a decent bowler. When it comes to cricket, the all-rounder represents Australia in all three formats: test matches, One Day International (ODI) matches, and Twenty20 matches. Within the realm of domestic cricket in Australia, he is a member of the “Victoria” and “Melbourne Stars” teams. Additionally, he has been a member of the “Indian Premier League (IPL)” for teams such as the “Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals),” “Mumbai Indians,” and “Kings XI Punjab.”
It is the “Lancashire County Cricket Club” that he represents in the English County Cricket competition. In addition to being a right-handed hitter, he bowls with his right arm and uses an off-break technique. At the beginning of his career, he participated in junior cricket for a local club. He began as a batsman, then moved on to become a speed and spin bowler, and eventually became an accomplished fielder as well. As a result of his tendency to play hazardous shots with seeming ease, which is also known to create a great deal of stress to many fielding captains, his teammates gave him the moniker “The Big Show.”
In addition, he is the author of a great number of records and the recipient of several “Man of the Match” accolades. He is still doing very well in English club cricket, in addition to playing for Australia in both domestic and international cricket at the international level. In July 2009, Glenn Maxwell began his career as a professional cricket player by becoming a member of the ‘Victoria State baseball team. He participated in the “Hong Kong Cricket Sixes” event as well as the “Emerging Players Tournament” for the Australian Institute of Sports during January and February of 2010. He made his debut in the first-class competition for the team ‘Victoria’ against the team ‘NSW’ in February 2011.
His quickest fifty in Australian domestic one-day cricket, which he achieved during the ‘Ryobi One-Day Cup,’ catapulted him to the forefront of the competition almost immediately. While playing club cricket for the English side ‘South Wilts’ and ‘Hampshire Second XI’ in 2012, he also participated in two matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the ‘Delhi Daredevils’. Both his One-Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) debuts came during Australia’s tour of the United Arab Emirates. That same year, he also participated in the ‘ICC World Twenty20’ tournament.
His first test match was against India, which took place in March of 2013. Additionally, he participated in the ‘2013 ICC Champions Trophy’ in addition to joining the ‘Mumbai Indians’ in the Indian Premier League that year. Throughout the 2014 season, he was a member of the Indian Premier League squad known as “Kings XI Punjab.” In the ‘2014 ICC World Twenty20,’ he continued to provide outstanding performances much as before. While he was playing Pakistan in a test series in the United Arab Emirates, his form took a nosedive, but he fared well in the one-day internationals.
In 2015, despite his poor performance, he was chosen to be a part of Australia’s team for the ‘2015 ICC Cricket World Cup’. During the tournament, he smashed records with his explosive batting, which caused everyone to turn their attention. It is the quickest century by an Australian in one-day internationals and the second-fastest in the history of the World Cup. He struck a century off just fifty-one balls during the World Cup match against Sri Lanka at the Sydney Cricket Ground. However, he did not perform well in the Indian Premier League that year, and as a result, he was left off of the team known as “Kings XI Punjab.”
Following a period spent playing club cricket in England, Maxwell participated in several international events during the 2015–2016 season, during which he played one-day internationals against India, New Zealand, West Indies, and South Africa. Following his absence from the Test and One-Day International matches during Australia’s tour of Sri Lanka in 2016, he went on to hit an unbeaten 145 off 65 deliveries in a Twenty20 International match against Sri Lanka.

Within the context of suspicions of match-fixing, he achieved his first century in a test match against India in Ranchi in March of 2017. During the 2017 Indian Premier League season, he also took on the role of captain for ‘Kings XI Punjab,’ however he was unable to make a significant impact. His performance in the Big Bash League (BBL) season during the 2017–18 season was exceptional, and he also contributed to Australia’s victory in the Trans-Tasman Tri-Series. Both of these accomplishments occurred during the same season.
Additionally, he achieved his first-ever double-century while competing in the ‘Sheffield Shield matches in the year 2017. As a result of his poor performance, the ‘Delhi Daredevils decided to purchase him for the 2018 Indian Premier League season for USD 1.75 million. ‘Cricket Australia’ awarded him a national contract for the 2018-19 season in April. During the ‘2018 Tri-Series,’ he was the captain of Australia, which led to a stunning win against England.
Through his performance in the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, he established himself as the holder of the record for the “fastest one-day international century by an Australian” and the “second-fastest century in the history of the World Cup.” Along with that, he was honored with the title of “Australian Twenty20 International Player of the Year” during that particular year.
It was in the year 2017 that he made history by being the second Australian batsman to achieve a century in all three forms of cricket. He did this while playing a test match against India in Ranchi. He joined a small group of cricketers who had attained this milestone in their careers. It was during Australia’s Twenty20 tour of India in February 2019 that he established a new record by being the first batsman from Australia and the third player in the world to make three hundred in Twenty20 matches.
