Pathira Vasan Dushmantha Chameera is a professional cricketer from Sri Lanka. He was born on January 12, 1992, and he now plays for the national side in all three forms of the game. Additionally, he plays for Nondescripts Cricket Club in Sri Lanka while playing domestic cricket. Beginning in January 2015, he made his debut for Sri Lanka on the international stage.
The selection of Chameera to the Colombo team that will compete in the 2017–18 Super Four Provincial Tournament took place in March of 2018. The month after that, he was also selected to be a member of the Colombo team that will compete in the 2018 Super Provincial One Day Tournament. The selection of Chameera to Galle’s team for the 2018 SLC T20 League took place in August of 2018.
The announcement that he will be a member of Galle’s team for the 2019 Super Provincial One Day Tournament came in March of this year. His selection by the Colombo Kings in the draft for the first season of the Lanka Premier League took place in October of the year 2020. The Rajasthan Royals bid for him at the 2018 Indian Premier League auction in January of that year. However, due to a back ailment, he was unable to participate in the first few weeks of the competition.
In August 2021, Chameera was considered for inclusion in the Royal Challengers Bangalore team that would compete in the second phase of the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) in the United Arab Emirates. His selection to play for the Colombo Stars in the 2021 Lanka Premier League came about as a result of the players’ draft that took place in November of that year. The Lucknow Super Giants were the ones that purchased him during the auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League competition, which took place in February of that year.

During the 2024 Indian Premier League season, he is playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders. The Galle Gladiators decided to contract him in July 2022 so that he could participate in the third season of the Lanka Premier League. At the One-Day International (ODI) match against New Zealand on January 29, 2015, Chameera, a right-arm fast bowler, made his debut for Sri Lanka. He bowled Ross Taylor, which was his first wicket in an international match, and he also bowled Grant Elliott, which resulted in Sri Lanka winning the match. He got his maiden wicket in an international match.
Despite being chosen to compete in the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, Chameera did not take part in the first four matches of the tournament. In Sri Lanka’s most recent encounter in pool A, which was played against Scotland, he was selected for the squad and ended up taking three wickets while allowing just 51 runs. On September 7, 2021, during the third one-day international match against South Africa, Chameera delivered a match-winning opening bowling effort that was very remarkable. Ultimately, Sri Lanka emerged victorious by a score of 78 runs, and Chameera was chosen as the player of the match. Later the same month, Chameera was selected to be a member of Sri Lanka’s team that would compete in the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup in 2021.
