On July 27, 2023, at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, he made his maiden appearance in a One-Day International (ODI) match, which was the opening match of the series versus West Indies. It was there that he grabbed his first wicket in a One-Day International, which was of Alick Athanaze, and he finished with stats of 1/22 from five overs. In the first Twenty20 International match of the series, which took place on August 3, 2023, at Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad, he made his debut. The match was against the West Indies.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, a young Indian opener, had a terrible performance in the second group-stage match that Rajasthan Royals played against Delhi Capitals. Mukesh Kumar struck him with a brilliant delivery, which resulted in Jaiswal’s dismissal. Rishabh Pant, the captain of the DC team, added Mukesh Kumar to the attack during the second over of the Royals’ innings to give them an early breakthrough. This is when the event took place.
Mukesh cleaned up Jaiswal with an absolute ripper, which was a result of the move, which paid off for the visitors in a significant way. Even though Jaiswal had scored a boundary off the second ball of his first over, Mukesh was able to keep Jaiswal under pressure by delivering two consecutive dot balls against him. His next delivery was a fantastic full-length ball that came into the southpaw and uprooted his off stump. He followed it up with another delivery.
In the aftermath of Jaiswal’s ejection, Mukesh seemed to be in a high-spirited mood. He gave the batter a violent send-off and requested that he return to the bench. As a result, Jaiswal, who had lately achieved remarkable success against England, was unsuccessful for the second time in a row in the Indian Premier League 2024. It is important to note that the hitter was not able to convert his start into a significant score his last time out, as he was dismissed for 24 in RR’s first game versus LSG.

On the other side, the LSG batsmen were unable to score as a result of the superb death bowling of Sandeep Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Avesh Khan, which resulted in a victory for RR by twenty runs. On the other side, it was DC’s openers David Warner and Mitchell Marsh who helped them get off to a great start in their season opener against PBKS. They were able to race to 39/0 in only three overs, which was a tremendous accomplishment. Despite this, they were able to secure wickets at regular intervals, which caused them to fall to 147/8. However, Abishek Porel’s late flourish brought them to 174 in 20 overs.
To finish the formalities with four balls to spare, the English combination of Sam Curran (63 off 47) and Liam Livingstone (38* off 21) led the run chase for PBKS. They were successful in their pursuit of the run.
RR and DC both failed to qualify for the playoffs in the previous season, with DC ending in second place from the bottom of the standings due to the unavailability of Rishabh Pant, their normal captain.
On the second day of the second test match of the series, which took place in Visakhapatnam, the standout bowler for Team India, Jasprit Bumrah, had a great performance. He secured his tenth five-wicket haul, which allowed him to destroy the English batting lineup. While Bumrah was wreaking havoc with his impeccable abilities and pinpoint accuracy, England was bowled out for 253 in response to India’s score of 396.
On the other hand, Mukesh Kumar, who was Bumrah’s pace partner, had a difficult time in his debut test match played on Indian soil. Mukesh meandered off his lengths many times, delivering a considerable amount of full deliveries in his opening stint that were easily despatched for boundaries by Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett. Unfortunately, the right-arm pacer did not take any wickets and allowed 44 runs to be scored off of his seven overs.
