He was selected to be a member of Australia’s One Day International (ODI) team for the series that they were going to play against England in January 2018. On January 19, 2018, he made his Opening One-Day International debut for Australia against England. It was later in the same month that he was nominated to Australia’s Test squad for their series against South Africa in March of 2018, however, he did not participate in any of the matches. Throughout the 2018–19 season, Cricket Australia granted him a national contract in April of 2018.
Richardson was included in the team that will be playing India in the one-day international series in January 2019. In the one-day international series that Australia played against India in March 2019, Richardson participated in all three matches of the series and claimed eight wickets. This helped Australia come back from a 0–2 series deficit to ultimately win the series 3–2. During the upcoming series against Pakistan, which took place in the United Arab Emirates in March 2019, Richardson suffered a dislocated shoulder while diving in the outfield during the second match.
Despite this, he was selected to be a part of Australia’s team for the 2019 Cricket World Cup in April of April 2019. He is one of the five promising talents who will be making their debut at the Cricket World Cup, according to the International Cricket Council (ICC). On the other hand, he was eventually disqualified from the competition, and Kane Richardson was selected to take his position in the team.
Even though he had not been at his best this season, he had gained a return to the Australian team for the first time since 2022 for the three one-day internationals that were played against the West Indies. He had taken six wickets and scored 40.33 runs in matches with an economy rate of 9.18. As a result of shoulder dislocations that necessitated surgical intervention, Richardson is still unable to throw effectively in the outfield. He has had to cope with a lot of ailments during his career.
A recent Indian Premier League auction resulted in the Delhi Capitals acquiring his services.
In the BBL standings, Scorchers are currently competing for the second slot, which would give them two opportunities to go to the final. With their win against Scorchers earlier in the week, Heat was able to take possession of the hosting rights for the Qualifier final. The Scorchers are now in second position with two games left to play. One of those matches is against the Heat, who are currently in first place, and the other is against the Sixers, who are currently in third place.
