As a result of his performance against the West Indies on December 18, 2019, he made history by being the first bowler for India to achieve a hat-trick in international cricket. Yadav became the quickest spin bowler for India, in terms of innings, to capture 100 wickets in one-day international cricket on January 17, 2020, during the second one-day international match against Australia. This accomplishment occurred in his 58th inning.

He was a member of the Kolkata Knight Riders team that competed in the Champions League Twenty20 in 2014.

In the Twenty20 International (T20I) match that took place on July 9, 2017, he made his debut for India against the West Indies. Yadav became the third bowler for India to achieve a hat-trick in a one-day international (ODI) on September 21, 2017, following in the footsteps of Chetan Sharma and Kapil Dev. The match versus Australia took place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, and he scored three runs.
As well as being the first left-arm wrist-spin bowler to capture five wickets in a Twenty20 International, Yadav achieved his first five-for in a Twenty20 International on July 3, 2018, during the opening Twenty20 International match against England.
On July 12, 2018, during the first one-day international match against England, Yadav not only achieved his first-ever five-wicket haul in an ODI, but he also established a new record for the greatest bowling numbers ever recorded by a left-arm spin bowler of any sort in an ODI, which was a score of 6 wickets and 25 runs. He also broke Shahid Afridi’s record for recording the greatest-ever bowling numbers by a spinner in an ODI in England. He did this by posting the best bowling statistics ever recorded by a spinner against England in one-day internationals. He also beat Afridi’s record at the same time.
The one-day international team that India will take to the Caribbean in 2023 will feature Yadav. After struggling to find his footing after the 2019 World Cup, he enjoyed a successful series going forward. As a result of his seven wickets at an average of 8.71, he was considered for inclusion in the team for the Asia Cup that year. The first match that India played was against Pakistan, and Yadav recorded scores of 5/25. He became the sixth bowler for his nation to capture a five-wicket haul against Pakistan, and he was instrumental in India’s victory by a margin of 228 runs.
He then went on to become the fastest Indian spinner to achieve 150 one-day international wickets in terms of matches played (88), surpassing Anil Kumble in the process. He completed another match-winning effort against Sri Lanka, taking four wickets and forty-three runs. At the end of the competition, he had taken nine wickets, India emerged victorious, and Yadav was awarded the title of player of the tournament.
