Prithvi Pankaj Shaw is a cricketer from India who belongs to the Indian national squad and has participated in all forms of the game. Shaw was born on November 9, 1999. The Mumbai and Delhi Capitals are the teams that he represents in domestic cricket. His leadership led the Indian side to victory in the Under-19 World Cup in 2018, which they won.
Shaw, a right-handed opening batsman, made his maiden international appearance on October 4, 2018, at the age of 18. He became the second-youngest Indian to hit a century in a test match after Sachin Tendulkar and the youngest Indian to do so in his first test match. On January 1, 2017, Shaw made his debut for Mumbai in the first-class competition, which was the semi-finals of the Ranji Trophy for the 2016–17 season.
He ended up becoming the man of the match after scoring a century in the second inning of the game. Shaw achieved even another achievement by making a century in his first encounter with the Duleep Trophy. This made him equal the record that Sachin Tendulkar had previously held, as he had struck a century in each of his first matches in the Ranji Trophy and the Duleep Trophy.
During the year 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) recognized Shaw as one of the five men’s cricket players who had made a significant impact. Because of a drug violation, the Board of Control for Cricket in India banned him in July 2019, and the suspension remained in effect until November of the same year. Prithvi Shaw and Pushkar Sharma were teammates on the Mumbai Under-16 cricket team during the 2014–15 season. During that time, they played together.

In addition to being the captain of Rizvi Springfield High School and the Mumbai under-16 squad, Shaw was a member of the Middle Income Group (MIG) Cricket Club in Mumbai. It was in November of 2013 when he struck 546 in a Harris Shield elite division match that he established the record for the highest score by a batsman in any organized form of cricket since 1901. During the years 2012 and 2013, Shaw led the Rizvi Springfield squad to many victories in the Harris Shield event, which is considered to be the most prestigious trophy in Mumbai’s juvenile cricket.
His score in the semi-final match in 2012 was 155, while his score in the final match was 174. Shaw is a member of the Middle Income Group Cricket Club in Mumbai, where he also trains and plays cricket. Arjun Tendulkar, the son of Sachin Tendulkar, was a teammate of Shaw’s.Throughout his two-month stint in England, Shaw amassed 1,446 runs while playing for Cheadle Hulme School in Manchester. Shaw received an invitation to play in England in April 2012.
During his first game, he scored a century and averaged 84 runs. Furthermore, he scored 68 wickets. In the course of his tenure in Manchester, Prithvi participated in several matches for the High Lane Cricket Club, which is a local team. Shaw participated in a match between the Cryptics Club and the Middleton Stoney Cricket Club in Oxfordshire in the year 2013. It was a change of speed in English conditions that led to his removal, which was caught off the bowling of Professor Paul Wordsworth. He started the batting and scored 68 runs in less than ten overs in the English conditions.

At this point, Shaw’s opening partner had only achieved seven runs in the competition. Additionally, he bowled, completing a runout and getting three wickets for a total of one run in five overs.
Following a match in which Shaw scored 73 runs against a team from the Julian Wood Cricket Institution in England, the founder of the institution, Julian Wood sent an invitation to Shaw to go to England in May 2013 and to participate in the academy’s training program. The first century he has achieved at the under-19 level came on February 6, 2017, while he was playing for India under-19s in his sixth one-day international.
On February 25, 2017, Shaw made his debut for Mumbai in the List A competition that was part of the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy. While batting for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy for the 2017–18 season, he earned his second straight century in November of 2017. This was his fourth century in five first-class matches since he made his debut playing for Mumbai. In the match against Leicestershire that took place on June 19, 2018, Shaw made 132 runs and achieved his first century in List A. The announcement that he will be a part of India A’s team for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy came in October of 2018.
Through her performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Pondicherry in February 2021, Prithvi Shaw achieved an undefeated double-century with a score of 227* off of 152. At the moment, Shaw’s score of 227* holds the record for the highest individual score in the history of the competition. Following her outstanding performance against Pondicherry in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Prithvi Shaw currently holds the record for the highest List A score by a skipper in the history of men’s cricket. To this day, he holds the record for the most runs scored in a single season with 827 runs scored in the same competition.
This is the second-highest first-class score by an Indian player, behind only B. B. Nimbalkar of the Maharashtra cricket team, who scored 379 in an inning against Assam on January 12, 2023, while playing in the Ranji trophy. He led Mumbai to victory in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in the 2020-21 season and the Ranji Trophy in the 2021-22 season, both of which he led to the championship match. In the Vijay Hazare final against Uttar Pradesh in the 2020-21 season, Mumbai prevailed, however in the Ranji final against Madhya Pradesh, Chandrakant Pandit’s team prevailed. As the captain of the North Mumbai Panthers, he also led the team to victory in the T20 Mumbai League 2019.
