Pant had an outstanding performance in the first innings, scoring 35 runs, and then went on to smash 150 runs in the second innings, which he considers to be the most significant knock of his whole career. Pant, who was playing his third game of the season, contributed to Delhi’s triumph against Gujarat Lions by scoring 69 runs off of 40 balls. This victory allowed Delhi to win by eight wickets. During the 2017 season, he faced the same club and scored 97 runs over 43 balls during the game. When Pant struck an unbroken 128 from 63 balls against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2018 Indian Premier League, he established a new record for the greatest individual score by an Indian player in the history of the IPL. He was also the second youngest player in the history of the Indian Premier League to hit a century.
The fact that his score of 128 accounted for 68.4 percent of the team’s total indicates that it was the second-highest percentage of runs scored by an individual batsman in an Indian Premier League match. Pant was given the responsibility of leading the Delhi Capitals in the 2021 Indian Premier League. This decision was made in March 2021, after the announcement that the normal captain, Shreyas Iyer, would be unable to participate in the full competition due to an injury. Even for the 2022 Indian Premier League season, he will continue to serve as captain.
Pant earned a spot in India’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad in January 2017, as they were preparing for their series against England. The third Twenty20 International match between India and England took place on February 1, 2017, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. This was his first appearance for India. At the time, Pant was the youngest player to make his debut for India in a Twenty20 International match. He was 19 years and 120 days old.
