“Devon” Born on July 8, 1991, Philip Conway is a New Zealand cricketer who represents the New Zealand cricket team in all forms. He is a member of the New Zealand cricket squad. When the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced in March 2020 that Conway, who was born in South Africa, would be able to play for New Zealand beginning on August 28, 2020, the ICC validated this information. The New Zealand Cricket Organization presented him with a central contract in May of 2020, before the beginning of the 2020–21 season.
It was in November 2020 that Conway made his debut for New Zealand on the international stage. After Mathew Sinclair, Conway became the second hitter for New Zealand to achieve a double century in his first Test match, which took place in June 2021. He was also the sixth batter overall to accomplish this feat. During the same month, Conway was also a part of the New Zealand squad that won the final of the 2021 ICC World Test Championship. He played a significant role in the victory by hitting 54 runs in the first innings of the match.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) honored him as the Men’s Player of the Month for June 2021, and in April 2022, Conway was considered one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year. Beginning with the South African domestic cricket league, Conway began his career. The selection of the Gauteng team that would compete in the 2015 Africa Twenty20 Cup took place in August of that same year. During his time with Gauteng, he participated in all three matches and scored 53 runs. He made the trip to New Zealand in August of 2017, when he was 26 years old, to pursue a cricket career.

He was given a contract with Wellington for the 2018–19 season in New Zealand, which was granted to him in June of 2018. At the Basin Reserve, Conway struck an undefeated double century against Otago during the second round of the 2018–19 Plunket Shield season. This was Conway’s first century of the season. During the 2018–19 Super Smash, he scored 363 runs over nine matches, making him the player with the most runs scored. Additionally, he was the player who scored the most runs throughout the 2018–19 Plunket Shield season, with 659 runs scored in seven matches.
He was honored with the title of Men’s Domestic Player of the Year at the New Zealand Cricket Awards, which are held annually, in March 2019. Conway scored an unblemished 327 points for Wellington against Canterbury in October 2019, during the 2019–20 season of the Plunket Shield Competition. It was the sixth time that New Zealand had achieved a triple century in first-class cricket. During the year 2022, he played seven matches and scored 252 runs at an average of 42. Additionally, he was part of an opening wicket partnership of 182 runs with Ruturaj Gaikwad against Sunrisers Hyderabad, which established a new record for Chennai. During the 2023 Indian Premier League season, CSK would go on to win the championship by defeating the Gujarat Titans in the championship match. Conway’s crucial knock of 47(25) in the chase earned him the award of Player of the Match.
Throughout the 2023 Indian Premier League season, he finished with the third-highest runs, 672, and a strike rate of 139.7. During November in the year 2020, Conway was selected to be a member of the New Zealand A cricket team for match practice against the West Indies squad that was on tour. In the latter part of the same month, he was selected to be a member of the Twenty20 International (T20I) to represent New Zealand in the series against the West Indies.
