Currently serving as the vice-captain of the India national Test squad, Ajinkya Rahane is a cricketer originally from India. Additionally, the right-handed batter is a member of the Rajasthan Royals, a club that competes in the Indian Premier League. As a result of his outstanding accomplishments in the home competitions, he made his debut in the international arena. However, throughout the early stages of his career, he did not make the most of a lot of opportunities, particularly in situations with restricted overs, which also diminished his prospects of success in tests.
His performance as a Test batter has been impressive, even though he has gotten off to a late start. He is already being hailed as the new Mr. Dependable, and it is anticipated that he will replace the void that will be left in Indian cricket after Dravid’s retirement. Even though his only century in Twenty20 only occurred in an Indian Premier League match rather than an international one, he has hit hundreds in every format of the game.
On June 6, 1988, Ajinkya Madhukar Rahane was born in Ashwi KD, which is located in the Ahmednagar district. His parents, Madhukar Baburao Rahane, a civil engineer who works at BEST, and Sujata Rahane, were his parents. His younger brother Shashank and his younger sister Apurva are also members of his family.
When he was seven years old, his father took him to a cricket camp in Dombivli that used a matting wicket since they were unable to afford a more advanced facility. In the past, his mother would walk him to school while carrying his kit bag and his younger brother since she was unable to afford to pay for a daily trip in an automobile. At the SV Joshi High School in Dombivli, he completed his secondary education and received his certificate.

He had only entered the third year of his Bachelor of Commerce program when he received the call to join the Indian Test squad. Ajinkya Rahane, who started his preparation at the age of 17 under the tutelage of Pravin Amre, a former batsman for India, made two centuries during India U-19’s tour of New Zealand at the beginning of 2007. This was a contributing factor in his selection for the Mohammad Nissar Trophy in Pakistan, where he made his maiden appearance in a first-class match against Karachi Urban in September of 2007. He scored 143 runs.
After scoring 172 runs against the England Lions during the 2007-2008 season, he went on to make his debut in the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai. The next year, he contributed 1089 runs to Mumbai’s victory in the Ranji Trophy, which took place the following year. During the 2009–10 season, he achieved a first-class high score of 265 not out against Hyderabad. He also scored three centuries in each of the two seasons that followed, and he topped the 1000-run mark in each of the three seasons.
His 152 runs scored against Rajasthan in the Irani Trophy match in 2011 were a contributing factor in India’s decision to choose him for the Test team. In the same year, he competed in the Emerging Players Tournament in Australia and scored two centuries, which won him a spot on the Indian One-Day International squad that would go to England in 2011. After making his debut for India in a Twenty20 match against England on August 31, 2011, Ajinkya Rahane made his first appearance for India in a One-Day International match against England on September 3, 2011, during the NatWest Series. Rahane scored a half-century in the contest.

But despite getting off to a strong start, he was not able to make a strong impression in the later one-day international and Twenty20 series against the West Indies, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and England. In November 2011, he was selected for the Test team that would play against the West Indies; however, because of his lackluster performance in limited-over games, he was forced to wait sixteen months before making his debut. In the course of this period, he saw seven of his colleagues make their debuts in the Test environment.
The fact that Shikhar Dhawan was unable to play due to injury and Gautam Gambhir was unable to play due to illness allowed him to eventually earn his Test debut against Australia on March 22, 2013. Although he did not play well in that match, he was selected for India’s tour of South Africa. During that trip, he ended as the third-highest run-getter for India, with a score of 96 off 157 balls.
After India had fallen to 156-5 against New Zealand on February 15, 2014, Rahane scored his first test hundred, which helped the team get off to a strong start. However, Brendon McCullum’s triple-century ended up winning the match for India. Rahane came in as a replacement for Rohit Sharma during India’s tour of England in 2014. He once again saved his team from a 140-6 collapse by scoring another century in the second test match that took place at Lord’s Cricket Ground this year.
Even though he had scored two centuries in the top order, he was unable to maintain his spot in the middle order during one-day internationals (ODIs), even though he had managed to register his second fifty during the 2013-14 Asia Cup. The Twenty20 World Cup was a failure for him, and as a result, he was omitted from the squad against Bangladesh. However, he was given the responsibility of captaining the second-order side for the One-Day International series against Zimbabwe, which India won by a score of 3-0.
